The Philadelphia Area Group Psychotherapy Society provides a forum for the exchange of ideas, theories, studies, research, information, and experience in group psychotherapy.

Purposes of the society include--

• Promoting public education in group therapy principles and practice
  
  
• Encouraging and promoting the writing and publication of studies and research in group therapy
  
  
• Promoting the establishment of training programs for group psychotherapy
  
  
• Striving to maintain high standards for group psychotherapists
  
  
• Encouraging the use of group psychotherapy
  
  
• Educating the public in the acceptance of group psychotherapy as a recognized therapeutic procedure
