Welcome to Dallas Seidokan karate! We are located in Wylie,
Texas and are directly affiliated with Wylie Karate, LLC., and The Ryukoku Seidokan Karate Kobudo Renmei (RSKKR) operating
in Okinawa. Our student's get promotion certificates mailed directly from the RSKKR Okinawan dojo
as they progress through the belts.
Karate to us is a way of life. We view it as an art that
can be practiced over a lifetime, not only through high school, as is most sports. Men, women, and kids
of all ages can gain something from Karate. It is an individual sport where levels are attained through clearly
communicated goals. The only competitor for advancement is yourself. There are no timelines.
It does have team aspects but fits people that are non-team competitive also. Self defense is not a team sport.
It is quite serious. We do not force a competitive spirit through sparring. We do work many techniques that
ultimately lead to 'live' situations. This can best be described as randori.
Our karate style is an all-emcompassing style that pre-dates many
different martial arts styles. It involves open-hand (te), weapons (kobudo), jujitsu (toide) and ground techniques.
We learn to rolls and falls (ukemi), as they do in traditional Aikido and Jujitsu, joint locking and joint breaking techniques,
throws, and punching, kicking, and blocking. It is a comprehensive art offering enough for a lifetime of study.
