This is the first in a multi-part tutorial on how to add a late-model GT hood scoop to your 1994 through 1998 Mustang.
One thing to mention right up front is that you will have to drill holes in your hood to make this work. If you follow
the steps outlined in this article, you should have no problems at all.
The total cost for this modification will vary depending on how much your charged to have the hood scoop painted, but
for me, it ran around the low $200 range. This included the cost of the hood scoop and the cost of the paint job.
The first thing to do is go to your local Ford dealer's Parts Department and ask them to order you part number (unfortunately,
I threw away my receipt with the part number, and all my search attempts via Google have come up empty. Instead, take this
description, "Hood - Hood and components - scoop - Primed", to your dealer and see if they can punch it up for you on their
computer. This description came from the Ford Parts Network web site. Here is a diagram of the Hood and Components). Another option is to try Prestige Mustang. These guys may have the part on one of their cars and can pull it for you. You can also go to Mustang Monthly and see how they add one to a '99 GT. There, you will find links to a company that sells hood scoop kits for the
'99-'00 Mustangs. Be aware, however, that these hoods have the "drop" in the middle, unlike the '94-'98 Mustang hoods,
so even after you order one of these, there is still some work to be done. You can also find some deals on eBay. Search all categories using the search keywords, "Ford Mustang Hood Scoop" (without the quotes).

Since their release, I have seen maybe a dozen or so 2005 Mustangs on the streets of Tampa, FL and its surrounding areas.
But I have only seen two GTs. The first was in Bradenton, the second was on Bayshore Blvd. here in Tampa. Both
looked incredible, although I wasn't to keen on the color of the one I saw in Bradenton (Windveil Blue).
Back in Novemeber of 2004, I went to Bill Currie Ford and test drove a V6. Part of this was prompted because Bill
Currie Ford was, and still is, offering 10 gallons of gas for free if you test drive one of their vehicles ( Bill Currie Ford). Anyway, I had to test drive a V6 because they didn't have any GTs on the lot. Each one they got in was already
owned through their pre-order program. When asked, a salesman stated they they didn't expect to have GTs on the lot
until early February, 2005!!!
