This stunning pattern
Originally thought to be called Blue Anemone
now known to be "Chintz"
as quoted from Muriel M. Miller
in her book Collecting Royal Winton Chintz * (1996) pages 28 and 29
(picture on page 51). I recently sold a teapot and comport in this pattern.
A wonderfully rare Royal
Winton pattern is unique in that it is both transfer ware and hand painted on a very large biscuit box for the serious Winton Chintz collectors! Note the
finial as used on the Norman shape teapots and covered sugars! With the exception possibly of
an Athena teapot my favorite piece by far!
This huge art
deco biscuit box or barrell is cetainly impressive in size and stature:
Measures with handles just over 10 inches
wide
and from top to bottom measures 5.5 inches
high
THIS IS an expectionally RARE AND EXQUISITE find
A REAL ONE OF KIND!
