Click here to see a detailed map of where we are located. For additional information, contact one of our officers or visit us.

Meetings shall be held for the purpose of chess competition, study, or other leisure chess activity in an informal, friendly, wholesome, social atmosphere. Unless a specific activity is planned and scheduled, visitors and players may participate in chess activities of their choosing including:

        Skittles                                      Practice games
Action Chess (G/30)                   Game study and analysis
        Blitz Chess (G/5)                        Informal instruction
Quick Chess (G/10 to G/29)        Bughouse Chess

The Club is open to all and currently has no dues. So bring a board, bring a set, bring a clock, or just bring yourself. No matter if your preference is blitz or a nice slow game -- you'll find someone to play with. Hope you visit us soon.  We would love to see you.

We also sponsor frequent chess tournaments, which you can find listed on our
calendar. These are generally open to all players, regardless of playing strength.   You must be a member of the U.S. Chess Federation (USCF) to play, but you can join the USCF at the tournament site.

As a practice the club holds a business meeting at 8:00PM on the 1st Tuesday of every month. A G10 Quick Swiss tournament is held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. G5 Blitz tournaments are scheduled for the 4th Tuesday of every month. All players are welcome to participate in the tournaments.

The club also supports rated individual games and matches. The club rules for these games can be viewed
here. Contact the club secretary for more details.

Generally, children under the age of 15 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.  Exceptions will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the Club President. At a minimum, requests for exception, will involve interviews with the child and his or her parent(s). The  age and maturity of the child are major considerations. For additional information, contact the Club President.

The Watauga Community Center is a tobacco free facility. The use and/or possession of alcohol on the premises is prohibited.
