Due to recent events at our tournaments we now require that all children under the age of 15 be accompanied/supervised by a parent or adult guardian. We have found that many children have problems controlling their behavior when their games finish early as they often do and are confronted with "down-time". Our tournament facilities are graciously loaned to us by the North Richland Hills Church of Christ and if we lose this facility due to damages or other problems caused by unruly children we would be at a loss to find another facility or to recompense the church for damages. Also, we have found that some children, especially at younger ages, or at their first tournaments, find the process of tournament play to be stressful and would benefit greatly by the support of a nearby parent/guardian. Any exceptions to this policy must be approved by the tournament director. WCC enjoys and appreciates the attendance of minors at it's events, but requires that all children are supervised. We simply don't have the resources to supervise children at our events.

Respectfully,

The Watauga Chess Club
