Here are a few pictures of the current crop of Diesel cars that I own. There have been many others dating back to a brand new 1978 VW Diesel Rabbit L....my first new car, leading right up to the current modern TDI diesels from Volkswagen.

This is the newest diesel in the herd, my wife's 2004 Passat TDI. This car is a super vehicle and has already been used to tow a 1400 lbs. camping trailer on a 6500 mile trip. The trip went without a hitch (no pun intended) and the car got tremendous fuel econonmy considering it was towing and I had the A/C on most of the time. Low MPG was 24 high was nearly 30. Since new, the car has an overall fuel economy average of 29.1 mpg (EPA ratings are 27 city and 38 highway). Highest mpg so far was 39 and lowest was 24.

This is my 1998 Jetta TDI. It was purchased used with 63000 miles on it (currently at 122,000). Color is Silver Arrow and it has sunroof, ABS, power door locks, PS, and Premium stereo with Panasonic CD changer. Car runs great and so far is averaging in the mid 40's as far as mpg is concerned. I have installed a K&N filter and the Wetterauer chipset (115 hp). It also has a 2 1/2" exhaust sytem with turbo muffler. This is my daily driver in my commute and uses biodiesel that I make in my garage (see biodiesel page).

This is my most recent project, a 1981 VW Rabbit Pickup or Caddy. I put this truck together from two trucks to make one drivable vehicle. I also built a Turbodiesel engine to replace the tired old NA diesel engine in the truck. There is a bed cap that will go on the truck eventually as well as original VW west coast style rear view mirrors.

Here is the turbo engine that I built for the truck. It has A/C but no other power "improvements". I have a SAAB intercooler that will eventually be installed to boost the power a bit more. I am also in the process of putting together a WVO (waste vegetable oil) system for the truck which will allow me to run straight veggie oil. Currently is runs biodiesel, sometimes at concentrations above B80.
