The 21 Day Challenge
Rhonna Farrar is one of the Queens of Digital Design. She is Awesome!
So, I've done it. I've emailed Rhonna and submitted my name. I AM going to do it this time! I lurked
and watched other people getting creative, but told myself I didn't have the time to establish a good habit and journal about
it.
Well. You are a lazy ass girl.
I am doing it this time. What am I doing?
I am taking Rhonna's challenge to create art about my feelings, triumphs, failures, pains, and joys. I will do
this, for 21 straight days, because that's how long it takes to make a habit.
I am going to get my lazy, sleepy self out of bed every day and walk on my treadmill for a minimum of one mile.
Then I will journal, using Rhonna's quote for the day as a kickstart.
My goals are:
- to walk at least one mile on the treadmill every day for 21 days straight. When I am gone to Sound to Sea, I will
use my pedometer and walk on the sand, enjoying my communion with God.
- break through the 200 pound barrier, going down.
- have 21 pages done in my art journal
- have 21 layouts done for my scrapbooks, following Stacy Julian's plan of scrapping what "speaks" to me
- have a blast!
I invite you to take the 21 day challenge. If you aren't a life artist (see Ali Edwards), you can still do this. Choose a healthy habit you want to establish, whether it is walking, eating better, praying
more, spending more time with your child. Whatever. Then do it for the next 21 days. Journal, draw, paint,
talk about it. Put it down permanently somehow, so that you will have a record of your accomplishment.
If you are a lazy ass girl (or boy) you CAN do this. Take the challenge. It starts Monday, March 27th.
If you can't start this Monday, that's okay. Start when you can. How about April 1st? The first day of
our three week break! How's that for serendipity!
No excuses! Make a habit. Journal about it. Feel the creativity and personal power flow.
I am doing it.
Don't forget to go to Rhonna's blog every day for a new, thought-provoking quote to give you courage and enthusiasm. I am so proud of you!

Where have I been??
I have been spending too much time reading other people's blogs and not posting in my own! I can't seem to run
two thoughts together by this time in the evening! I just want my break to come, so I can breathe and think.
I am so excited about April! I am taking my mom to Sound To Sea with me for the first time! She will be uncomfortable,
I am sure, but she needs to be forced out of her box sometimes.
I am going to take her with me to Alabama, also. I will be scrapbooking at the Event of my dreams! Thursday
through Sunday, I'll be in Birmingham, taking classes from Heidi Swapp, Cathy Z, Carrie Colbert, and............my personal
scrap idol, Elsie Flannigan! I admire her phunkiness, and I really want to learn from these ladies. I am so excited,
but I am scared. I don't like to go to these things alone, and there I'll be. I am praying that I win one of the
spaces from Scrap Etc. My problem would then become, who would I give that space to? I know mom would say Brittany,
but I think Susan would kill for it. But what about Irene? What would I do? LOL, to have that happy problem
would be awesome.
I will miss Eric and Josh at S2S. This will be my first time in four years of not having them be there. Maybe
I'll have a little "Elaine" time to wander and think and take pictures. I would like that!

Awesome Time With My Family
Sunday, March 12th, we went to Charlotte to the Discovery Place exhibit of the Dead Sea Scrolls. It was an amazing
experience, and I am so happy that I was able to share it with Eric, Mom, and Brittany. Josh didn't much care for any
of it, but was patient with us and allowed us to wander and learn about these ancient biblical scrolls.
Mom was profoundly moved by a book about Josephus, while I really was into the artifacts from Qumran. The textiles
and coins were amazing to ponder.
The scrolls themselves are astounding, to contemplate writing so meticulously on skins with reeds. The writing
looks so perfect, what you can see of it, it looks like it was printed on a machine.
The popular Psalms scroll, was probably my favorite. I found the whole exhibit facsinating.
We also went to the IMAX film the Mysteries of the Nile, which was too cool! It scared the crap out of me a couple
of times, it was so realistic.
I am very glad we got this once in a lifetime opportunity to share the scrolls with my Mom. I wish my Dad could
have been there. He spent time in Africa, and would have had a lot to say. I miss him so!
