Basic Calibration
Service includes:
· Accurately adjust the black level (brightness control), peak white level (contrast control),
color saturation and hue.
· If applicable, disable the sharpness enhancement circuit (no more shadow artifacts surrounding
all the faces and text), the SVM circuit (fine detail won't be all blurred together), the auto-color circuit and the room
light sensor (auto-brightness, iris, etc.).
· Calibrate grayscale color (white balance) to the NTSC broadcast industry standard white
reference, D65 (6500 Kelvin) using the Sencore CP5000 Color Analyzer.
· If possible, adjust for accurate color decoder operation, to eliminate red push (allows
rich, normal saturation for all other colors).
· Adjust the focus and geometry controls for optimum picture quality.
Direct-view TVs:
· Calibration of the gray scale to D65.
· Precise adjustment of all picture parameters (Contrast, Brightness, Color, etc.) using
test patterns from the Sencore VP403 for HDTV & NTSC or your DVD player with the test DVDs.
· Limited correction of overscan and picture position when and if necessary.
Rear Projection TVs:
· Electronic focus of the CRTs (Red, Green and Blue), convergence of all aspect ratios.
· Calibration of the gray scale to (D65).
· Precise adjustment of all picture parameters (Contrast, Brightness, Color, etc.) using
test patterns from the Sencore VP403 for HDTV & NTSC or your DVD player with the test DVDs.
·
Correction of overscan
and picture position when and if necessary.
Front Projection Systems:
· Touchup of electronic focus of all three CRTs.
· Touchup convergence of all aspect ratios.
· Calibration of the gray scale to D65.
· Precise adjustment of all picture parameters (Contrast, Brightness, Color, etc.) using
test patterns from the Sencore VP403 for HDTV & NTSC or your DVD player with the test DVDs.
· Correction of overscan and picture position when and if necessary.
·
Note, that in order
to accurately calibrate any front projector, you must totally eliminate all room ambient light. Any light from a source other
than the projector, which arrives at the sensor of the Color Analyzer, will alter the measurement and the calibrated color
of the video display.
