We began our love affair with Danes over a decade ago. Our first Dane was given to us and from then on we were "IN LOVE" We read and studied everything we could find on Danes. After years of research we decided to begin breeding to share our love of Danes with others by providing quality danes to approved homes.
Our Danes are raised inside our home along side our kids & Siamese cats.

HISTORY OF THE GREAT DANE

A breed of working dog of unusually large size and statuesque appearance, which supposedly originated in Germany about the middle of the 16th century, probably from an interbreeding of the Irish wolfhound and the old English mastiff. The origin of the name Great Dane , also known as boar hound is not known; the breed neither originated nor was developed in Denmark. A more fitting name would be German mastiff, from Deutsche Dogge, as the breed is known in Germany. The dog was once used to hunt wild boar; now it is used chiefly as a draft animal or as a pet.

The ears were originally cropped so the wild boars would'nt "gore" the ears.

Danes have LONG tails ..in ancient times dogs were taxed by the length of their tails.. Therefore the Dane was owned by kings/ the rich population as they could afford the "tax" Also..if a "short tailed " dog was found on the king's property his owner was severely punished! The length of the tail immediatly identified his owner's "social" standing.

Danes to this day are NOT a dog for everyone!  Be prepared to spend a "King's Ransom" for proper care and upkeep of your new family member!  The price of a quality pup is just the beginning!!!!
