My name is Jacqueline Johnson and I am the Animal Control Officer/Humane Investigator-"Pound Master" for the City of Whitehall,City of Roodhouse, and Villiage of Eldred,IL.

ALL CALLS ARE RESPONDED TO M-F between the hours of 9 AM-5 PM IN ORDER OF PRIORITY /URGENCY /EMERGENCY... OTHERWISE THEY ARE RESPONDED TO IN ORDER OF WHEN THE CALL WAS RECIEVED.

after hours & weekend calls are responded to on an EMERGENCY basis ONLY

I.E. owner relinquish is NOT considered an emergency!

Traps will not be set during weekends or during night time when the temp will fall below freezing, during excessive heat, or inclimate weather.

Cat traps will only be set in White Hall for sick or injured cats.

HUMANE CARE REQUREMENTS - VIOLATIONS / INVESTIGATIONS

1. ALL ANIMALS MUST BE FED ONCE DAILY

( KIBBLE )

2. ALL ANIMALS MUST HAVE FRESH POTABLE WATER

( RAIN WATER / SNOW / ICE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE)

3. ALL ANIMALS MUST HAVE SHELTER IF LEFT OUTSIDE

( DOG HOUSES OR ENCLOSED SHELTER. SHADE MUST BE PROVIDED FOR ALL INSIDE ANIMALS LET OUT AS NECCESARY )

AVAILABLE AT ALL TIMES

4. ALL ANIMALS MUST HAVE VETRINARY CARE PROVIDED TO PREVENT SUFFERING.

5. IT IS ILLEGAL TO DUMP ANIMALS

6. IT IS A FELONY TO SHOOT / EUTHENIZE / POISON / TORTURE

CATS & DOGS

( THESE INCIDENTS WILL BE REPORTED TO THE STATES ATTORNEY FOR PROSECUTION)

7. ALL DOGS MUST HAVE A CURRENT RABIES VACCINATION . RABIES VACCINATIONS ARE REQUIRED / GIVEN AT 16 WEEKS / 4 MO OF AGE AND MUST BE REVACCINATED EVERY 1-3 YRS DEPENDING UPON YOUR COUNTY /VET REQUIREMENT. YOU MUST HAVE PROOF OF THIS VACCINATION ---- RABIES TAG & RABIES CERT. FROM YOUR VET.

8. Convicted Felons for a period of 10 years after their conviction or release from prison may not own or reside w/ a cat or dog over the age of 12 weeks that is unaltered, they must be spayed or neutered and microchipped.

LEASH LAWS

ALL DOGS & CATS MUST BE CONTAINED ON THE OWNERS PROPERTY AT ALL TIMES, WHEN UNLEASHED. IT IS UNLAWFUL FOR DOGS & CATS TO ROAM AT WILL !

LIVE TRAPS

LIVE TRAPS USED FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRAPPING NUISANCE ANIMALS ARE ILLEGAL W/ OUT A PERMIT FROM IL. DEPT. OF NATURAL RESCOURCES. THESE PERMITS ARE FREE AND GOOD FOR 90 DAYS. PLEASE CALL IL. DEPT. OF NATURAL RESOURCES FOR A PERMIT. ( LOOK IN THE BLUE PAGES OF YOUR TELEPHONE BOOK FOR YOUR LOCAL DEPT OF NATURAL RESOURCES NUMBER)

ALL TRAPS SET W/ OUT A PERMIT WILL BE REPORTED TO THE CONSERVATION POLICE.

RACCOONS CAUGHT IN LIVE TRAPS MAY ONLY BE RELEASED W/ IN 100 YARDS OF WHERE THEY WERE CAPTURED OR THEY MUST BE EUTHENIZED. IT IS ILLEGAL TO RELOCATE RACCOONS MORE THAN 100 YARDS FROM WHERE THEY WERE TRAPPED.

ALL WHITE STRIPED SKUNKS TRAPPED MUST BE EUTHENIZED.

( I DO NOT EUTHENISE /PICK UP SKUNKS!)

PLEASE CALL YOUR ACO FOR PICK UP/ RELOCATION OF OTHER NON DOMESTICATED ANIMALS

THE TRAPPING OF CATS W/ LIVE TRAPS

Cat traps will only be set in White Hall for sick or injured cats.

MUST BE REPORTED TO YOUR LOCAL ACO .... AND PERMISSION AQUIRED TO TRAP FROM YOUR CITY ACO & ALL NEIGHBORS W/ IN A 100 YARD RADIUS NOTIFIED OF THE TRAP SET. ALL CATS TRAPPED MUST BE RELINQUISHED TO YOUR LOCAL ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER.( INCLUDING FERAL CATS )

IT IS ILLEGAL TO DISPOSE /DUMP/EUTHENIZE CATS CAUGHT IN LIVE TRAPS

PLEASE CALL YOUR ACO TO HAVE THEM PICKED UP! THEY MUST BE KEPT IN SHADE WHILE TRAPPED. ALL REPORTED TRAPPED CATS WILL BE PICKED UP W/ IN 24 HRS. AS REQUIRED BY LAW.

News The Animals that have not been claimed at the end of 7 days, can be removed by local rescue organizations and offered for adoption as resources become available- if you are interested in any animals you see impounded please contact us by phone or email . Eldred Impounded animals will be located at Ghrist Vetrinary Clinic

(County Pound)

in Carrollton,IL.

The Roodhouse Animal Control Facility is located on County Rd 2550 , inside the city property.

( go west over the tracks & out of town on Palm , look for the Animal Control Facility sign on utility pole on left side of road at the end of the city limits)
