Empty are the words you speak to me

Like rattling railroad cars are rusting

Graffiti sprayed along their bevels

Running rails for the sake of trusting

Higher are your thoughts I hear

Is that supposed to be enough?

I came to find the warmth of Father

And was given weaker stuff

All around the blood crust roles

Blind fools line up to be fed

From the mist that darkness fell

I long for truth that burns all things undone

Where are the lines on straight and narrow

Fertile ground that once lay fallow?

Open Truth to this dead heart

Not weak religion or comfort failing

To know the heart reality

To gush with flowing rivers promised once

To live the Christ walk unfolding

A life sold off for more valuable things.
