The Story of Get Green Inc.

The idea of "Getting Green" was born on a cold January morning in Fire House No.1
located in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana. The year was 2000 and the year before, the annual Fort Wayne Irish Fest had
been cancelled due to a lack of funding. My buddy and I, two Irish Firefighters, decided to get things going again by attempting
to turn the river green for St. Patrick's Day. That first year can be characterized by a light turnout of people, a heavy
turnout of cold weather, snow, and a dark blue river. That's right I said blue river!
Since then things have gotten better. In the following four years we have seen an increase in attendance, activities
and now we have green dye, not to mention our very own Leprechaun.
Don't misunderstand us we'll be the first to admit, that turning a river green for St. Patrick's Day is not unique. However,
shooting the dye into the river using fire hoses and a fire engine is all Fort Wayne. Believe us when we tell you that
this is truly something to see and we the members of Get Green Inc. would like to invite you to the 6th annual Get Green
Fest on March 11th, 2006 at the Wells St. Footbridge located in the heart of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
