Another album from one of my favorite bands
from one of my favorite genres, To Die For's gothic rock album 'Jaded.'
To start off, I can say there are no weak
tracks on the album although none are really jaw dropping. The desperate vocals are still there, the crunchy/heavy guitars
have returned a la 'All Eternity', there is more keyboard work than in the past (which is offset by the heavier guitars) ..
so all the elements are there for an album to blow me away, but it just doesn't.
Maybe it is some of the keyboard work
that just doesn't do it for me, maybe it is the lack of the deep, deep vocals from Jape Peratalo that keep me from loving
this album to death. I remember the first time I heard 'All Eternity', the deep vocal parts that were in with his normal singing
that really got me going. Or perhaps my expectation were way to high that no matter what they did it wouldn't hit me right.
Okay,
back to the music. Like I said before, the guitars are back heavier this time and there are a lot of keyboards and I think
they fit well in most of the songs, maybe it is just too much for my gothic-rock tastes. The songs, overall, are all solid
and a few I'll play over and over again. A good gothic rock album in the likes of Poisonblack, Entwine etc...
