Another gothic rock gem from Finland!! As with
most of these, it falls in line for description with Him, To Die For, Entwine etc... but his seems slightly different. While
the song titles will lead one to believe what the music will sound like, Sethian has a slightly different sound. For one,
it is not quite as ominous sounding as the rest of them...lyrically the content is similar but the guitar sounds, riffs, keyboards
and song structures lean a little away from gothic rock and more towards plain old rock (for a lack of better terms) The choruses
in the first two songs also gave me the same impression as the backing vocals are "up" and "light" Don't get me wrong, this
album is great.... there are some great melodies in here and the riff on "Purity is Sorrow" is one of the coolest I have heard
in quite some time.
Nice hooks, catchy songs, memorable choruses, good vocalist and backing vocals......I guess I should
expect it to be good as it has members of Nightwish and Finntroll in it!!!
