First
off I have to get something off my chest.... I am so sick and tired of songs that involve breaking the chains or something...till
the end. If you have the CD you know what I am talking about, if not, these are titles or part of titles of songs on the new
Dream Evil disc "Evilized" I guess some clichés in metal I am sick of more than others. I guess I must also say that the song
"Made of Metal" I absolutely adore...go figure. On to the review.....
This is the second disc of Fredrik Nordstrom,
Gus G. & company's band Dream Evil. At first I felt it didn't hold much water to 'Dragonslayer', but upon further review
I think it does. I felt that last few songs on "Dragonslayer" were fun, but a little weak for this super-group. This offers
up another melodic and riffy album or true/power metal and is more consistent throughout the album.
I am slowly becoming
more and more enamored to Gus G. guitar work. I am kinda kicking myself for trading away the Firewind CD of his and will be
replacing it soon to give it another chance. I am also looking forward to his work on the upcoming Nightrage project he is
involved with. "Evilized" is no exception...the more I listen to it, the more I seem to pick up on little things with the
riffs and solos.
Is it me or has there been a string of good power/metal releases in late 2002/early 2003 with more
upcoming? I hope there is more to come of this quality!!!! Enjoy Dream Evil!
