Okay, let me get one thing out of the way...
the singer and the bass player of Midnattsol are pretty hot. Not supermodel hot, but metal chic hot.
On to the music. Midnattsol plays 'Nordic Folk Metal', basically
melodic metal with a few odd rhythms and acoustic time changes to some songs. Some faster songs with some double-bass
lines, some crunchy guitars and some all acoustic numbers and on one...a mouth harp. There are two songs sung
in Norweigan, one of which is based on a Norweigan novel. So basically, you have a lot of variety in the music sung
over with the very pleasing voice of Carmen Elise Espanaes (Liv Kristie's sister). Her voice has more of a deeper tone
to it, not operatic at all.
Quite an enjoyable listen and is a nice change of pace to my normal listening
patterns. I wasn't really blown away by this or anything, it seems to have a subtle way of getting under your skin and
forcing you to put the disc in you CD player and press play!

Though I don't really have any folk metal to compare it to.
