I'm a Savatage fan from way back, guess it comes with the territory of being a metal head and living in Tampa, Florida.  I've been to dozens of Savatage shows and all the umbrella bands so I had high expectations for the new CIIC.  Unfortunately, it is either not what I was expecting or not that good.

There are a few good songs on here, and those seem to have the most Savatage influences.  I guess it is good that Zak is bringing in other influences but him finding his own sound does not come across as well as Chris Caffery does with his (now 2) releases.  I guess that is the difference between a vocalist and guitarist, it is hard to hear Zak and not think of Savatage.

The songs themselves are not that bad, I just had higher expectations from anything related to Savatage.  None of them really hit me as great songs as a few did on Watching in Silence.  Can't win them all.

Favorites: In This Life, All That Remains, The Middle of Nowhere, Lost
