Supreme Majesty brings us their latest opus of epic and melodic power metal with a
very uplifing feel. My first exposure was their last album Danger which I found average except for the title
track so I was a little bit hesitant to get this disc.... my reservations were at ease after the first listen. I don't
know if they got that much better, or my tastes have changed to accomodate this 'happier' style of metal. Either way,
I like this album a lot.
Musically, there are no surpises save for a couple of slightly darker parts like the
chrorus of Dance of the Elements or the lyrics of Dawn of the Dead. The guitars soar and bring forth
an epic feel along with the keyboard use that make you feel like you should be marching along somewhere. I also actually
notice some of the solos on this disc. Usually, I just kind of take them along with the rest of the song, but these
seem to stand out to me at times. Vocally, we have an upper mid-range singer who does kind of annoy me a couple of times
when he goes a little to high, but other than that he is quite enjoyable. Add some double bass to most of the songs
and an actual enjoyable ballad and you got yourself a good disc.
The bonus track of Never Surrender Alive (Acoustic) is a nice...bonus.
