I will preface this by stating that this is not a normal disc for me. I
tend to avoid anything with more than a little prog mixed into the music. For me it tends to reduce enjoyment and focus,
disrupting the flow of emotion throughout a song, and more importantly, and album. Anubis Gate seems to be able to do
it though....interject prog in their metal and keep someone like me(who prefers power and goth) interested and sometimes enthralled.
Crunchy riffs, great songs, interesting lyrics and emotional delivery without getting
too much wankery with the instruments is what Anubis Gates offers and they do it well. I have heard complaints about
the vocalist which skewed my view of the album before I even heard it, but after a few listens, either I got used to him or
he's not bad at all....personally I enjoy the vocals..at least with this brand of music.
The production is top notch, as is the skill level of the musicians. A lot of
intersting ideas interwoven into the songs......I like this album.
