Here we have the debut of Dreamland on the budding label of Dockyard1.  What can be said about Dreamland? Hammerfall.

Dreamland plays mostly mid-paced, very clean sounding metal...very akin to Hammerfall.  Throw in a couple of faster, double-bass type songs and a full-blown ballad and there ya go!  The singer is also similar in sound to Joacim Cans.  Cans, as it turns out, produced this album (with Andy Laroque) and also helps out on the backing vocals (not that you can really tell if it is him or the regular singer).

The songs are average and fairly typical....especially with song titles like Breaking the Chains, Destiny, A New Way and of course, a song titled after the band.  One of the best songs on here is the cover song...All for One by none other than ...Stryper?  It turned out very nice.   The ballad Fade Away (which there is a video for) is supposed to be incredible...ehh...okay.  I have always liked ballads (softy) and this one is just average.  No tug on my heart-strings....I would guess the best song on here is the title track..ony for it's oddly timed riff and simple, yet catchy chorus.

The odd thing is that in all things Hammerfall...this would be their 4th best album. (behind Glory to the Brave, Legacy of Kings and Cans solo disc!)  If you are burned out on Hammerfall but miss their sound (sounds odd, I know), this should quench the thirst!

Overall, an average album for the average metal head.  Nothing new but well done and well produced.

Favorites: A New Way, Hearts Like Lions, Destiny, Dreamland, Future's Calling, All for One
