This is going to be an odd review...I just reviewed theie latest Elegies, ran out and bought this disc and tried to differentiate between the two and figure out which one I liked more and why...

First thing I want to know is why they are obsessed with Freaks?  The opener on this disc is titled Against the Freaks...on the 3rd song of Elegies (Apathy) , they are talking about Freaks in the chorus and they end the album with a cover of Bruce Dickinson's Freak.  Any idea?

This album ends where Elegies picks up.  Dickinson inspired (perhaps inspired it to weak of a word i nthis case) metal.  Catchy choruses, great vocals and songs...just not very original.  A main difference from this album to the next is the choruses seem to be a little more memorable.

I can't seem to get enough of these guys as I think this album is on par with their next....call me a new fan-boy for Machine Men, I guess.  I hope the music does begin to develop into something a little different.  I can understand the singer sounding similar to Bruce....I imagine it would be easier to change the music style some than to change your voice.

Favorites: Against the Freaks, The Beginning of the End, Silver Dreams, Betrayed by Angels
