New Mexico artist, Ruth Francis,  spent her early years as an artist for Hallmark Greeting Cards and studied at the Kansas City Art Institute.

A move to New Mexico inspired her to paint the endless horizons and ever changing skies. 

Recently, Ruth moved to Texas where old memories were recalled of her childhood riding her favorite horse, Diablo. 

Inspired to paint the Cowgirl as a free and independent woman, she has no problems finding true life models deep in the heart of Texas. 

In her Cowgirl figurative portraits, Ruth depicts the nature of being today’s Cowgirl and the dedication to excellence in performance demanded by the title.

She is a versatile artist.  Skilled in both oil and watercolor.  Her landscapes and still life paintings have won numerous awards throughout the southwest.
