Northwoods Bowmen's Club is an archery club organized in 1954 to offer opportunities for recreational archery. The
club has an indoor range in Novato that serves as the primary site for club events. The range is also available for the use
of members in good standing.
The club sponsors monthly club shoots at either the indoor range, or at the outdoor range operated by the Sonoma County
club. There are also 10-week league shoots throughout the year. Members use a wide variety of equipment, ranging from long
bows with cedar arrows to compound bows with sites, mechanical releases, and stabilizers. Club shoots utilize standard targets
as well as 3-D animals constructed from styrofoam-like material. These are friendly competitions with a wide range of categories
that reflect the type of equipment used.
We hold a monthly business meeting, as well as periodic work parties to maintain the range and prepare targets.
Membership is open to anyone
interested in archery. There are a number of membership categories including adult, junior, senior, family, life, and honorary.
The cost of participating is fairly modest, and the club owns equipment that can be used at the indoor range by any member
or guest.
