January 2008

Graceland was another fascinating place to visit...the house is actually much smaller than you would expect, but state of the art for it's time. The final years of Elvis life were fairly tragic and it was quite a moving experience touring the house.

Apparently the upstairs which was where his private bedroom is, is still the same as when he died. No-one is ever allowed up there, not even the cleaning staff. There is a rumour that Nicholas Cage managed to sneak up there when he was dating Lisa Marie (he is an Elvis nut....)

The famous "jungle room"

To quote another line from Marc Cohn's "Walking In Memphis"...

"There's a pretty little thing, waiting for the king, down in the jungle room....."
