A thesis presents special challenges for the
Writer and the Editor. The Writer has much invested in his or her thesis- sometimes several
years of work! The Editor must make sense of the thesis and find the tiny flaws as well as the blatant mistakes
that are sometimes invisible to the degree seeker. Below are some of our guidelines that help us both
make your work the best that it can be...
- We require that the Writer work very closely with the Editor in
order to move the editing job along, to clarify the text, and to take care of issues in sequence and logic.
- We do not track changes on long projects, as this practice is burdensome
to both the Writer and the Editor.
- Grammar changes are made as the Editor goes through the text.
- The Editor notifies the Writer when issues arise concerning the substance
of the thesis. The Editor asks the Writer to make the necessary changes. When appropriate, the Editor may
suggest changes.
- The Editor re-edits at least once before returning a finished copy to
the Writer.
- All communication between the Writer and Editor is documented.
- On thesis and dissertations projects, it is imperitive that
the Writer remain committed to his project. Because of deadlines, requests for structural and substantive changes from
the advisor, the lengthy process, and the significant amount of time the
Editor commits to a project, Sawa-Lad charges by the hour. By charging an hourly rate, Sawa-Lad hopes to keep costs minimized
and the Writer's commitment to the project.
- Progress payments via PayPal are
required. A retainer is required before any work will be started. Any remaining balance must be paid before the
finished copy can be returned to the Writer.
- We need to know of the Writer's deadlines at the time
of submission.
- We will not accept a project unless we are reasonably sure that we
can complete it on time.
- Keep in mind that we cannot complete a project on time unless we
have the Writer's cooperation!
