This week at Krogers
Krogers is having a "Mega 10" sale again.  Buy 10 items and get $5 off instantly.  The item that I will be concentrating on is the Snapple Tea.  They are on sale for $1.  If you buy ten of them, it will end up costing you 50 cents each.  I have coupons for 75 cents off of one.  I have ten of them.  They will end up paying me 25 cents for each bottle of Snapple.  I will use that overage to pay for the Campbell's Select Harvest canned soup.  It is not part of the Mega 10 sale, but it is on sale for $1.25.  I have coupons from the Jan 4th Sunday paper that is for 50 cents off of 2.  All the Krogers around here double the first two identical coupons, anything other identical coupon after that is face value.  In the end I will be paying 50 cents for 4 cans of soup and 10 bottles of Snapple tea.

Sorry about the cancellation
I'm sorry about the cancellation.  The weather was too bad to have the class.  I had to cancel another appearance down in Wakarusa scheduled for the 15th.  I will let everyone know when the next class will be.

Praying for good weather tomorrow
I hope the weather holds up.  I'm afraid if it gets too bad, I may have to cancel the coupon class at St. Vincents.  I'll keep everyone posted.

Softsoap deal at Krogers
The Softsoap hand soap is on sale at Krogers for $1.  In Jan. 4th Sunday paper there is a .50 coupon.  Most Krogers around here double the first 2 identical coupons, so if you have 2 Softsoap coupons from the paper, you will be able to get 2 for free.

Walgreens deals done last week
Happy New Year everyone.  Sorry it's been so long since my last post.
Here's the deal that I did at Walgreens last week:

Bought 3 Robitussin's and 2 Dimetapp's.  They were part of the "Buy $20 worth, Get $10 in Register Rewards".  However, there was a overlap of another deal going on until 12/31.  Instead of getting $10 RR (Register Rewards), I ended up getting $20.  I started out by paying $16.40 (used the Walgreens gift card from previous Walgreens EasySaver deals) for the Robitussins and Dimetapps.  Got $20 back.
I then bought 5 containers of Vicks Vaporub and 2 boxes of Puffs tissues.  There was a similar deal going on with the Vicks where I received $10 RR.  The total came out to $16.40.  I used $15 RR coupons from the Robitussin/Dimetapp deal and paid $1.40 (again on the gift card), but I got the $10 RR.
I then purchased 1 Revlon eye shadow for my wife, and 1 Orajel tooth desensitizer, both were FAR (Free After Rebate) in the January EasySaver catalog.  The eye shadow was $4.99 and I had a $1 coupon, so I paid $3.99.  I will get the full $4.99 back plus an additional 10% at the end of the month when I submit the receipt number on Walgreens EasySaver website.  The Orajel was $8.49 and I had a $1 coupon, so I paid $7.49.  I will get the full $8.49 back from Walgreens at the end of the month also.  When you submit the receipt online at the Walgreens EasySaver website, you don't have to send in the receipt, so therefore I can use the receipt to send in with the manufacturer's rebate form for the Orajel, so I will not only get my money back from Walgreens, I will also get the full purchase price back from Orajel.
With the eye shadow and the Orajel the total came out to $13.48.  I used the $10 RR from the Vicks deal to bring it down to $3.48.  By this time my gift card was almost used up.  I had to pay about $1.50 out of pocket.
I ended up paying $1.50 out of pocket for 3 Robitussins, 2 Dimetapps, 5 Vicks Vaporub, 2 boxes of Puffs tissues, Revlon eye shadow, and the Orajel.  I still had the $5 RR left over from the Robitussin/Dimetapp deal.
I will receive $13.48 (plus an additional 10% for putting it back on the gift card) from Walgreens and $8.49 from Orajel.
Not bad for about 45 min.

Powerade Zero at Krogers
If you like Powerade, you'll like Powerade Zero.  It's on sale for .79 at Krogers this until Sept 27th.  You have to buy 6 in one order to do this deal.  6 x .79 = $4.74, but if you buy 6 you'll get $4 off your next shopping order.  You can start what we call a "chain";  that is, use the $4 off your next shopping order to buy 6 more and pay .74 cents.  If your lucky, a coupon will spit out that will be $1 off any 3 Powerades.  If you get that coupon, you will end up with what we call an overage of about 26 cents.  After tax, you will pay 7 cents.  Not bad for 6 bottles of Powerade Zero.

My Next Coupon Class
My next class will be on Tuesday, October 7th at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bristol, Indiana.  It will start at 7 p.m. and last about 1 hour.  The last class I conducted went on for 1 1/2 hours because of all the questions.  I gave away a prize box worth about $400.  You know that I didn't pay anything for any of the stuff that was in the prize box, that kind of goes without saying.  I had a blast that night.  I hope to see a lot of people there on the 7th.

They have Glade Plugins Scented Gel classic warmer regularly priced at $1.77.  In the Sept 14th SmartSource coupons there was a buy on get one free coupon for the warmer.  The deal is for every one of the warmers that you buy, you get a "$2 off your next shopping order" coupon.  So, if you buy two (which will come out to $2.04 after tax), you will get $4 off your next shopping order.

My next coupon class
My next class will be on Friday August 15th at Crossroads Community Church which is located on the corner of C.R. 17 and C.R. 18 between Bristol and Elkhart, Indiana just south of the U.S. 20 bypass C.R. 17 exit.  The class will start at 7 p.m.  I will have a prize package filled with items from my stockpile.  The items will be geared towards back-to-school and health & beauty.  I will draw a name for the prize package.  There is no admission, all I ask is that people bring at least 2 cans of non-perishable foods for the local food pantry.  Good luck and God Bless.

What I'm doing this week.
I am stocking up on Pledge products at Krogers.  I just bought 5 cans of Pledge aerosol and 5 bottles of Pledge floor cleaner for .10 and received $6 off my next shopping order.  I've been getting Brawny paper towels and bottles of Advil for free.  They are all part of the Mega 10 deal where if you buy 10 of the items listed (Pledge, Advil, Brawny, etc.), you will get $5 off instantly.  With the coupons out of the Sunday papers, I was having a blast.

I went to CVS and bought $84.90 worth of items for .57!  The items were 8 bottles of Pert Plus shampoo plus conditioner, 3 bottles of Covergirl foundation, 3 Covergirl blushes, 2 bottles of Life Fitness vitamins, and 4 20oz Diet Pepsi Max bottles.  Not too bad, huh!

The new Walgreens on my mail route is having it's official Grand Opening, so they are handing out "$3 off any $10" coupons at the door.  I am having a blast with that also.  I haven't had to spend any real money at Walgreens for the past 5 years because I keep using the EasySaver rebate money and the additional 10% that they put back on their gift cards at the end of each month.  That's all for now.  Have a good day.

What I'm doing this week:
Krogers:  Birds Eye frozen veggies are on sale for $1.  Use the $1 off of 2 coupon that was in the 3/9/08 SmartSource sunday insert or the .35 coupon that was in the 1/6/08 SmartSource sunday insert.  If your Krogers doubles like mine does, you will end up paying $1 for 2 if you use the $1/2 or .30 if you use the .35 coupon.  They also have colgate toothpaste on sale for $1.  Use the .50 coupon that was in the 2/24 SmartSource insert and you will get them for free if your Kroger's doubles.  They have Green Giant frozen veggies on sale for $1.  Go to http://shortcuts.com/Home.action and register your Kroger card and load the Green Giant $1 off of 2 e-coupon.  Then go to Kroger's and purchase 2 boxes for $2.  One dollar will automatically come off your order and then hand them the $1 off of 2 coupon that was in the 3/16 SmartSource coupon and you will end up getting both of the package of veggies for free.

What I'll be doing this week
I will be going to CVS on Saturday because I received in the mail a coupon for 25% entire order for either Saturday or Sunday.  Here's what I'll be getting:
2 bags of Dove Chocolate Easter Eggs that are on sale 2 for $6.  I have a B1G1F (Buy 1 Get 1 Free) coupon that will bring the price down to 2 for $3.  I will then receive $2 in ECB (Extra Care Bucks).

1 box of Alavert Non-Drowsy allergy relief for $6.99.  I have a $4 c/o (coupon) that I printed off the internet.  You'll be able to find it by googling "alavert $4 coupon".  I will then get a $3 ECB from that.

$10 worth of St. Ives skin care.  I have a CVS coupon for $1 off.  I will get $5 ECB for that.

2 bottles of Garnier hair care products that are on sale for $2.99.  I have $1 c/o's for those.  I will then get $4 ECB for those.

$10 of Irish Spring bar soap, deodorant or body wash.  I have $1 c/o's for those.  I will then get $5 ECB's for that.

At the end of the order before I give the manufacturer coupons, I always hand them the CVS c/o's and ECB's first, then the manufacturer c/o's.  I will let you know how much the order came to and how much in ECB's I receive.  I should get $19 in ECB's, but we'll see.

Walgreens:
I will be buying $10 in ConAgra foods which include Van Camp pork and beans among others.  Here's the breakdown:  Van Camp's pork and beans are .99 regularly priced.  I will buy 11 of them getting my total around $10.90.  The coupon in their sale ad will bring the total down to about $4.30.  I have one $1 c/o to bring it down to $3.30.  I will then send the receipt in at the end of the month and get $5 back (#49 in the Easy Saver catalog).

I might get the Oust Candle holder for .99 after Easy Saver c/o and manufacturer c/o, but I all ready have a ton of the Oust/Glade/Airwick stuff right now.  My house smells like a very potent flower garden as it is.  It has to be that way to combat the smell of my three kid's dirty socks and clothes!!

Russell Stover Easter Eggs are regularly priced 2/$1.  I will buy them in sets of 4 because I have B2G1F c/o's from March 3rd's Smart Source.  Combined with the in-ad coupon 3/$1, they will end up being about 8 cents a piece.

Trident Splash Gum is on sale B1G1F and I have B1G1F c/o's.  They will cancel each other out and I will end up getting 2 packs of gum for free!!!  You ever notice that things taste better when they are free.

Aquafresh toothpaste is on sale for .99 and I have c/o's for $1 off.  Free toothpaste!!  I can feel my teeth getting whiter already.

Wish me luck.
Jim

Hello everyone.  My name is Jim.  They call me "Big Country" because not only am I a country music fan, but because I am 6' 6" tall.  I graduated Elkhart Memorial High School in 1986.  I went to college, but I was too immature and irresponsible so I had to drop out.  I went into the U.S. Air Force instead.  I was stationed at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX (boot camp) for 6 weeks, Chanute AFB, Rantoul, IL for about 1 year (tech school-electronics), and then Castle AFB, Atwater, CA for 2 1/2 yrs.
I got out of the Air Force in 1991, met my future wife Feb 8th, 1992 through a old friend.  Come to find out later that my old friend was planning and scheming on how to set Joann and myself up on a date.  Well, obviously it worked.  We got married on Jan 16th, 1993.  We have 3 kids; James, Jenna, and Jacob.  Yes, some of you may have noticed that all 5 names in our household start with J's.  That way it's easier to remember the names as I get older and start forgetting stuff (not really, just ended up that way).

Jim The Coupon Guy's Tips

1. Get several (5 or 6) copies of the coupon sheets each week. (You can get extra copies from friends/family that don't use coupons)

2. Know the rules and policies of the stores you shop at. (You can find these at their web site).  If you have a favorite store that you shop most often, have their 1-800 # handy.  You'll need it when, not if, you run into the "Coupon Nazi" cashiers.

3. DON'T use a coupon just because you have it - wait for the product to go on sale.

4. DON'T shop when you're hungry.

5. DON'T buy products that aren't part of your game plan.

6. File your coupons (as you cut them out) according to your preference (I do it alphabetically).  File the coupons to the back of your file and use the coupons in the front of each file - the ones that are oldest or closest to expiring).

7. My Triple Play: 1)coupon 2)on sale 3)refunds (this is the hardest but most fun part - you can find out about this on the RefundCents web site through my favorite links)

8. Having an ORGANIZATION system is KEY.

9. Do NOT take advantage of the system, because it will ruin it for the rest of the couponers.
