This week at Krogers
Krogers is having a "Mega 10" sale again.  Buy 10 items and get $5 off instantly.  The item that I will be concentrating on is the Snapple Tea.  They are on sale for $1.  If you buy ten of them, it will end up costing you 50 cents each.  I have coupons for 75 cents off of one.  I have ten of them.  They will end up paying me 25 cents for each bottle of Snapple.  I will use that overage to pay for the Campbell's Select Harvest canned soup.  It is not part of the Mega 10 sale, but it is on sale for $1.25.  I have coupons from the Jan 4th Sunday paper that is for 50 cents off of 2.  All the Krogers around here double the first two identical coupons, anything other identical coupon after that is face value.  In the end I will be paying 50 cents for 4 cans of soup and 10 bottles of Snapple tea.

Sorry about the cancellation
I'm sorry about the cancellation.  The weather was too bad to have the class.  I had to cancel another appearance down in Wakarusa scheduled for the 15th.  I will let everyone know when the next class will be.

Praying for good weather tomorrow
I hope the weather holds up.  I'm afraid if it gets too bad, I may have to cancel the coupon class at St. Vincents.  I'll keep everyone posted.

Softsoap deal at Krogers
The Softsoap hand soap is on sale at Krogers for $1.  In Jan. 4th Sunday paper there is a .50 coupon.  Most Krogers around here double the first 2 identical coupons, so if you have 2 Softsoap coupons from the paper, you will be able to get 2 for free.

Walgreens deals done last week
Happy New Year everyone.  Sorry it's been so long since my last post.
Here's the deal that I did at Walgreens last week:

Bought 3 Robitussin's and 2 Dimetapp's.  They were part of the "Buy $20 worth, Get $10 in Register Rewards".  However, there was a overlap of another deal going on until 12/31.  Instead of getting $10 RR (Register Rewards), I ended up getting $20.  I started out by paying $16.40 (used the Walgreens gift card from previous Walgreens EasySaver deals) for the Robitussins and Dimetapps.  Got $20 back.
I then bought 5 containers of Vicks Vaporub and 2 boxes of Puffs tissues.  There was a similar deal going on with the Vicks where I received $10 RR.  The total came out to $16.40.  I used $15 RR coupons from the Robitussin/Dimetapp deal and paid $1.40 (again on the gift card), but I got the $10 RR.
I then purchased 1 Revlon eye shadow for my wife, and 1 Orajel tooth desensitizer, both were FAR (Free After Rebate) in the January EasySaver catalog.  The eye shadow was $4.99 and I had a $1 coupon, so I paid $3.99.  I will get the full $4.99 back plus an additional 10% at the end of the month when I submit the receipt number on Walgreens EasySaver website.  The Orajel was $8.49 and I had a $1 coupon, so I paid $7.49.  I will get the full $8.49 back from Walgreens at the end of the month also.  When you submit the receipt online at the Walgreens EasySaver website, you don't have to send in the receipt, so therefore I can use the receipt to send in with the manufacturer's rebate form for the Orajel, so I will not only get my money back from Walgreens, I will also get the full purchase price back from Orajel.
With the eye shadow and the Orajel the total came out to $13.48.  I used the $10 RR from the Vicks deal to bring it down to $3.48.  By this time my gift card was almost used up.  I had to pay about $1.50 out of pocket.
I ended up paying $1.50 out of pocket for 3 Robitussins, 2 Dimetapps, 5 Vicks Vaporub, 2 boxes of Puffs tissues, Revlon eye shadow, and the Orajel.  I still had the $5 RR left over from the Robitussin/Dimetapp deal.
I will receive $13.48 (plus an additional 10% for putting it back on the gift card) from Walgreens and $8.49 from Orajel.
Not bad for about 45 min.

Hello everyone.  My name is Jim.  They call me "Big Country" because not only am I a country music fan, but because I am 6' 6" tall.  I graduated Elkhart Memorial High School in 1986.  I went to college, but I was too immature and irresponsible so I had to drop out.  I went into the U.S. Air Force instead.  I was stationed at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX (boot camp) for 6 weeks, Chanute AFB, Rantoul, IL for about 1 year (tech school-electronics), and then Castle AFB, Atwater, CA for 2 1/2 yrs.
I got out of the Air Force in 1991, met my future wife Feb 8th, 1992 through a old friend.  Come to find out later that my old friend was planning and scheming on how to set Joann and myself up on a date.  Well, obviously it worked.  We got married on Jan 16th, 1993.  We have 3 kids; James, Jenna, and Jacob.  Yes, some of you may have noticed that all 5 names in our household start with J's.  That way it's easier to remember the names as I get older and start forgetting stuff (not really, just ended up that way).

Jim The Coupon Guy's Tips

1. Get several (5 or 6) copies of the coupon sheets each week. (You can get extra copies from friends/family that don't use coupons)

2. Know the rules and policies of the stores you shop at. (You can find these at their web site).  If you have a favorite store that you shop most often, have their 1-800 # handy.  You'll need it when, not if, you run into the "Coupon Nazi" cashiers.

3. DON'T use a coupon just because you have it - wait for the product to go on sale.

4. DON'T shop when you're hungry.

5. DON'T buy products that aren't part of your game plan.

6. File your coupons (as you cut them out) according to your preference (I do it alphabetically).  File the coupons to the back of your file and use the coupons in the front of each file - the ones that are oldest or closest to expiring).

7. My Triple Play: 1)coupon 2)on sale 3)refunds (this is the hardest but most fun part - you can find out about this on the RefundCents web site through my favorite links)

8. Having an ORGANIZATION system is KEY.

9. Do NOT take advantage of the system, because it will ruin it for the rest of the couponers.
