Chairman Tickner,

Or should that be Committeeman Tickner? I appreciate your response to my blog entry, however, some of your statements are factually incorrect or not relevant.
  1. I was not appointed to my 4 year term as township auditor, but I was elected by write-in votes in the 2003 municipal general election.
  2. No where did I say anything about disqualification  for holding public office, for as everyone knows, the two party system almost requires political party participation to become a candidate - but just not only Republicans need apply.
  3. The East Norriton Vacancy Board is chaired by John Ficther until recently a Republican Committeeman, but still listed as a committee-man on the EN GOP website, while the Board of Supervisors, of whom 4 are Republican Committee people, serve on the Vacancy Board as well.
  4. The Board of Supervisors without discussion or advertisement appointed Ben Hines to fill the vacancy created by the death of Auditor Eleanor Yaworski, a Repulican Committee-woman still listed on the EN GOP website.  The Republican Committee then nominated him to run for the remaining 4 years of her term. That appears to me to be control.
  5. Even more important is the fact that if Democrat Susan Wendt is not elected to the Board of Auditors then another Republican Committee-man, John Serratore, will become the 3rd Auditor.

My assertion that the Republican Committee controls the workings of the Township remains valid. Only a victory by the Democratic Party candidates will change the operation and the direction of the Township.

Suggestion: Dear Mr. Williams,
You asesrt that "The Republican Committee* presently controls
4 Supervisor seats, the Tax Collector, the Constable and
2 of 3 Auditors. *Includes Committee members, their spouses
or their direct appointees." These positions were each filled
by the voters and citizens of East Norriton Township.
The East Norriton Republican Committee has no direct appointees
becauses(sic)it appoints no one to any elected office. That is the
job of the Board of Supervisors and the Vacancy Board.
You should know better since you yourself were appointed to your
auditing position how the the(sic)electoral system and appointment
process works. If being active in a political party was a
disqualifcation for holding township office, you yourself could
not have served as a township auditor.

Sincerely,
Kevin C. Tickner
Chairman, East Norriton Board of Auditors

ONE MONTH TO GO!
With less than a month to go til election day on Tuesday, November 3, our Democratic candidates are putting out a tremendous effort to show East Norriton voters that Democrats are able to win on the local level.

As you may be aware, in 2007 I lost by 27 votes in my bid to be re-elected Auditor. In 2009, the Democratic candidates are more organized, more energetic and more committed to the campaign.
  • John_Harris.jpgSupervisor candidates John Zurzola and Harris Dainoff have canvassed the entire township - meeting with you and listening to your concerns.

  • TinaHowell.jpg  Tax Collector candidate, Tina Howell, has demonstrated that on East Norriton's Centennial it is time for a woman to hold this important office.

  • Susan Wendt, candidate for Auditor   SusanWendt.JPG(6 year term),will bring back an independent watch dog to the Board of Auditors.

JoeValerio.jpg

  • Joe Valerio, candidate for Constable, will add a fresh face to another office dominated by a Republican committee person.

The Republican Committee* presently controls 4 Supervisor seats, the Tax Collector, the Constable and 2 of 3 Auditors.  *Includes Committee members, their spouses or their direct appointees.

Is this the type of machine politics you want in East Norriton's Centennial Year?

So I urge you to take the time to go to the polls on Tuesday, November 3 from 7 am to 8 pm or apply for an absentee ballot to vote for the East Norriton Democratic team. But, please vote!

Remember 2007, if just 4 more Democrats per election district had voted that day, I would have been re-elected. Do not let that happen in 2009!
