Born in New Brunswick, NJ, Michael worked in the family restaurant business for several years before he enlisted in the Army National Guard in April 2003.  He was deployed to Iraq and served with his unit from August 2004 until October 2005 as an assistant team leader at the Forward Operating Base Speicher for OIF3.

While deployed at FOB Speicher, Michael set up a program with his unit to distribute school and athletic supplies to Iraqi children.  Michael’s mother and their hometown church donated and shipped the gifts.  The 642nd and other deployed units volunteered to make frequent school trips in nearby villages.  According to Michael, “…the kids were always grateful and the soccer balls were an especially big hit.”

We are thankful for his service and proud of his accomplishments.  Michael was a friend to everyone.  He was instantly well liked by all people who met him.  As he matured into a man, his intent and actions were honest, extremely kind and gentle.  Everyone who spent time with him knew of his great sense of humor.  Michael was a pleasure to have around, to explore and have new experiences with.  He easily adapted to situations in his life, which he lived on his own terms.  Mike was loving life to the fullest.  Michael had the ‘right stuff’.  He will be in our hearts forever.
