HO MOD SIG MONTHLY MTG. MINUTES, Sept. 8, 2007, Black Bear Diner in Redmond
Norm Curtis, Chairman

COMMENTS:
1.
Meeting Date: The next meeting is Oct 13 ‘07, 8:30 a.m., Black Bear Diner in Redmond

PAST SHOWS:
2. None

NEXT SHOWS:
3. Lynden Lions
, Lynden Fairgrounds, Oct 6-7 Dave Alexander coordinator
By now, most if not all participants have contacted Dave. If not, do so ASAP.
Setup is Fri afternoon into early evening. Traffic through Everett is extreme during the rush hours.
Most people stay two nights in Lynden. Leaving Seattle Sat morning is a tough way to go
There is the Whatcom County Artist Studio Tour going on, something for the spouses.
Possible ops session Sun afternoon
Rob is taking the trailer up and back home for the next show, Maple Valley
4. Maple Valley, Ravensdale, Oct 20-21, Tabor
Ross is contacting them now. Hope it’s not too late.
This is a small show; watch for more information as we get it.
5. GTE in Puyallup, Nov 17-18, Slease
Status is that we are "pending," meaning we’ll probably get in.

NEW BUSINESS:
6. Name badges, Rob
We used to have name badges used for meetings and even at shows. The original set, made by Paul, have mostly been lost over time. There is renewed interest in badges. There appear to be several designs, from write-on adhesive cards, simple card in a plastic holders, engraved metal badges with our logo, engraved plastic badge, etc. The plan is to get more information about costs and styles and revisit this next time. Maybe look at badges as well.
7. Modules for sale, Bob B
Bob B has four modules for sale. These were originally built as one-track modules and were subsequently converted to two tracks. They are fully compatible with our modules. In addition to the modules, legs, backboards, and buildings are included. EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED, $500.
8. Meeting site
After eating for awhile, we evaluated our new site and voted on returning next month. The morning was kind of hectic as they were not expecting us. They told us to expect better next time. The food was good, voluminous, and a little pricey. The best news is that there is a "back room" that we hope to have to ourselves most of the next time. Also we’ll check to see if Andy’s has reopened on Saturday.
9. New Show, NETC in December,
Bob C asked us if we want to return in December. I consulted with a number of our regulars who all voted for doing the show. The biggest driving force was the small number of shows that we did this year. More on this show as it gets nearer.
10. Myspace presence, Giske
Paul brought to our attention the possibility of posting a page on MySpace. This would be an additional and convenient way to reach out to the larger world, especially the younger set. This was approved and Paul volunteered to set us up with a page. Many of us can learn a new venue on the Internet.

OLD BUSINESS:
11. Own Road Names:
Slease,
Progress has been made on the logo. Recommendations were for the round one to have less trunk showing, more leaf area, look at an oval shape, and to drop the word "railroad." The latest draft with these refinements is on our WEBSITE. http://mysite.verizon.net/respuhks/4dhosig/
12. Ops at Cherry Valley, Curtis
There will be an ops session following breakfast for the foreseeable future. Starting with this one, the sessions will be full featured, at least as good as the manpower available can make it. As an after thought, and as a courtesy, please let us know if you change your plans if we are expecting you so that we don’t have to wait for you needlessly.
13. Status of WEBSITE: Ellis
I hope that you have checked out our new WEBSITE. I personally visit it frequently, as it is a great source of dates and information that people ask me. As mentioned before, there are two sites that are interlinked. I maintain one of them and update it frequently. Some valuable pointers:

*There is a date in the heading when it was last up dated.
*On the main page, I add "Alerts" when I add something deeper in the site.
*Two pages are especially helpful, Upcoming Events and Bulletin Board.
UPCOMING EVENTS
features information about Our Schedule, Upcoming Shows, Upcoming Breakfasts, Upcoming Ops at Cherry Valley, and Other Events (like work parties).
BULLETIN BOARD provides information like Announcements, Stuff for sale, Stuff available, etc.
