HO MOD SIG MONTHLY MTG. MINUTES, Oct 11, 2008, Black Bear Diner in Redmond
by Norm C, Chairman

COMMENTS:
1.
Meeting Date: The next meeting is Nov 8, ‘08, 8:30 am, breakfast at Black Bear Diner in Redmond.

PAST SHOWS:
2. Lynden: Pete, coordinator. This was Pete’s first attempt at coordinating and I heard some really good comments about the show. We won 3rd place for club layouts. Ross reported that since the layout was small and many people had UTP panels on the outside that prototypical operation was possible and entertaining.
Our people managed to get it set up and running, thanks to a new "manual" that Paul put together with Frank’s pictures. We passed this manual around at breakfast, but for those of you not there, this manual has complete instructions for setting up and taking down the layout plus some additional pages like tips, etc. It states clearly what is to be done, with pictures for clarification. The manual would work as a full setup guide as well as a reference for some part of the setup that needs clarification. We’ll continue to tweak the manual as deficiencies are found. Thanks again Paul and Frank for a great contribution. A number of things not working were notes and will be taken care of at Maple Valley.
NEXT SHOWS:
3. Maple Valley,
Ravensville, Oct 18-19: Ross, coordinator. This show is next weekend. All that I know is that it is 20’ by 20’, Participants are Mike 2, Ross 2, Rob 2, Wye or Westin 2, Bridge 1, and possibly Brian 2. Helpers are Mike J, Jason (and Shara?), Pete, and Norm. Setup is sometime Friday. Contact Ross,
rarailfan@aol.com if you have concerns.
4. GTE: Puyallup, Nov 15-17, Mike, We are still on "the list" (Free layouts have priority). This may be the debut for Bob’s big yard which includes an inside corner. Mike has sent out a query on participation interest. Please respond ASAP.
5. NETC: Nov 28 until Dec 20, Norm, coordinator. That’s a little short of our previous agreement, but we need the time to set up at the MTF on Sunday Dec 20th. Bob is out of town, so details are on hold. This extended show may seem like we’re going to be really busy. Since we have had so few shows this summer and each person may be there one or two days, I am looking forward to it. In addition, we can go there anytime during the week and run trains as well as work on equipment there.
6. MTF: (Model Train Festival, Tacoma), Mike, coordinator. Dec 26 to Jan 3rd As this pays $$, we’ll want our best, most sceniced modules there. Again watch for a participation query out soon.
4. Trailer disposition this fall: Norm,
Rob picked up the trailer from me at breakfast for a Saturday setup at the Maple Valley show. Rob will take it from there for an early setup at GTE. I will bring it home from the GTE ready for the NETC show. After that is not known.

NEW BUSINESS:
5. Electronic parts order,
Norm
I have asked Brian to order some cab radio antenna parts and some cab bus couplers. He has volunteered to do some of this ordering for us.

OLD BUSINESS:
5. Status NCE RADIO UPGRADES:
Norm
Good news. We will send in half of our radio CABS on Nov 17 after GTE, as we won’t need many during NETC or the MTF shows. Then the second mailing will go in on Dec 12. If you have a radio cab, you may want us to send it in at the same time, as all cabs have to be the same. So far I have two non-4D radios going in, Rob’s and Bob T’s. Rob and Bob, be sure to get them to me by Dec 12.
6. Status DCC Packet Analyzer: Allan
Hopefully we’ll have an analyzer at the GTE show where we have had issues in the past.
7. OPS at Cherry Valley: Tom
Ops sessions at Cherry Valley resumed on Oct. 11.
