The King of Planets and our enabling Moon
I took some pictures of Saturn and the Moon on Friday night this weekend. I started a new page underneath the "Moon
Base" page called Other Moon Shots. Probably a fitting title... Next time you look at the Moon, you might say
thank you. I call it the enabling Moon because new research shows that the Moon has been instrumental in human beings'
survival on our world. It may have enabled your very existence.
I also added an RGB picture of Jupiter to the home page. It was taken this morning. I didn't plan it out
but Io appeared from behind Jupiter during the middle of the shoot. So, that was a bonus. I'll post some more
and some better pictures later but this should whet your appetite for now. Anyone know why they call it the King
of Planets?

Galaxies Galore
My set-up is not great for galaxies but I try anyway. I've added several galaxies to the Universe page and another
GC to the Milky Way page. I can really only image the brightest galaxies so far. When I try fainter galaxies,
I battle light pollution, time (field rotation), and noise (I crank up the camera a bit to capture light faster). So,
that's about it I guess. I stack images together but am limited with that because of field rotation. The colored
images take more time so the most detail can be obtained with luminance shots (all wavelengths). I may try to add some
color later after I get some new software. I also have some Saturn shots with the rings more visible that I will post...

This is an LRGB photo of Mars made on 12/21/07 05:52 GMT. It's centered near Eden but Syrtis Major is still
visible. I have an 11" SCT and used a monochrome Imaging Source USB 60 fps camera at f/25. I used Registax,
Photoshop and Maxim DL during processing. Thanks for visiting!
