Supernova Remnant, YouTube video, and Zelinda
The Crab Nebula, a supernova remnant was added to Milky Way page. It's 10 LY in size and a very turbulent region
of space. I'm glad it's far away!!
How can you not like a minor planet named Zelinda? Check her (it) out on the minor planet page.

Near-Earth Asteroid and Comet Lulin
There are objects whizzing by us all the time. The minor planets page has an asteroid discovered in 2006 that will
only miss Earth by a tiny margin (astronomically speaking). But it's still way too far away for danger (2 million miles
away). Another Near-Earth asteroid discovered this year only missed Earth by about 100,000 miles on February
2nd. We get pummelled all the time by tiny objects but thankfully the bigger ones have been missing us.
Comel Lulin is the brightest comet predicted for this winter. See the Comet page for a picture (as with my
more popular targets - better pics are on the web). These were 16.3s shots but I should have collected more blue data.
I used the light pollution to cut out sky glow a bit. The comet moved in between the 4 sets of shots I took (it's moving
5 degrees a day now which is fast). So, you can see that I lined up the comet but couldn't line up all the stars.
It's quite a pretty blue-green color (blue if you're my mom, green if you're my dad) in images taken over a longer time.

This is an LRGB photo of Mars made on 12/21/07 05:52 GMT. It's centered near Eden but Syrtis Major is still
visible. I have an 11" SCT and used a monochrome Imaging Source USB 60 fps camera at f/25. I used Registax,
Photoshop and Maxim DL during processing. Thanks for visiting!
