Saturn Near Opposition - 3/16/09
Finally, finally had a clear night with good seeing. There were some dew and fog challenges but higher humidity
usually means the atmosphere is more still. The little white areas are storms. It's rotated 180 degrees because
I posted it to a website in Australia (that's how they see it down there).
I updated the Saturn pic on the home page and added a couple more pics on the Saturn page. They use different processing
techniques to bring out more detail - at the expense of a more representative appearance.
I also imaged a spiral galaxy in Leo (M96) but haven't processed it yet.

Another Night Out
among the stars (finally). The weather has been uncooperative for astronomy. It was windy this night (3/5)
and seeing was only fair. Loaded a new Saturn picture on home page (not as nice as the last one - see Saturn page).
But shows the rings opening a bit. Maybe better skies will come soon - had to wait to late spring last year...
Also added crescent Venus taken earlier on 3/5. It's really getting thin!!

| But usually is too close to Sun - it was about 15 deg from horizon in morning (east) - poor seeing |

| Same image scale as Neptune. A lot of green when imaging, less blue but boosted blue. 6th from Sun |

This is an LRGB photo of Mars made on 12/21/07 05:52 GMT. It's centered near Eden but Syrtis Major is still
visible. I have an 11" SCT and used a monochrome Imaging Source USB 60 fps camera at f/25. I used Registax,
Photoshop and Maxim DL during processing. Thanks for visiting!
