Imagine it is late evening on April 14th.
Not only haven’t you filed your
Federal Income Tax, you haven’t begun to gather your W-2s, 1099s, medical records, sales tax receipts, property tax
records, mortgage interest information, or list of charitable deductions. As
a matter of fact, you do not even have a form 1040.
Now imagine that you turn to your family,
and say…”Tomorrow, why don’t we go for a drive and take along a picnic.”
Sound like a recipe for disaster?
Not if Americans for Fair Taxation have
their way. HR-25, the Fair Tax, would:
- Abolish
the IRS as we know it;
- Repeal
the Federal Income, AMT, and Estate Taxes;
- Eliminate
all Payroll Taxes; and
- Wipe
out the Corporate Income Tax.
HR-25, the Fair Tax, is a National Sales
tax. Among other things, it would:
- Decrease
fraud and non-compliance, and spread the tax base to include many more payers than under our present system...resulting in
lower taxes for everyone;
- Be revenue neutral;
- Make American Manufacturers
more competive in world Markets;
- Make paying taxes a choice,
rather than the result of government compulsion;
- Lead
to a boom in job creation; and
- Result
in the largest economic expansion in our nation’s history.
And do all this while preserving
a progressive tax system by offering everyone a "prebate" on the tax they would pay up to the Federal Poverty Level.
Think about it…your take home pay
would equal your gross pay. You could choose if and when to pay taxes. Sound interesting?
