BYE BYE, GM
Well now. Didn't we just know it? Manufacturers are going broke and Japan has decided to raise the price of its cars to "help out" their "American" competitors.
I've been watching this kind of stuff since HP brought in a management group, Allegis Corporation, and went slip-sliding down that mountainside from the high-most peak to absolute garbage dump.
Allegis specializes in doing the job with the highest number of unskilled and illiterate laborers, paying them next to nothing, moving their bully supervisors around, and completely destroying customer service. Their MO does not preclude charging you for a brand new custom computer but delivering a refurbished, almost unresponsive machine with so much hidden crap they could not overwrite or dump still left on what was supposed to be a max-gig hard drive. Not only is the drive not the size it is supposed to be, but old programs they tried to wipe were not. It isn't that hard to do, but no one at the HP laborer level knows what the hell they are doing.
7.50 an hour and who cares what they put out just so they get it out there as fast as they can.
Before HP went in the dumper, Allegis Group already had a near monopoly on management, hiring, firing, placement, etc. at Sony Corp. When Sony started having real employee and product problems, Allegis had been sued and lost quite a few times for employee and wage fraud abuses. There was so much friction between supervisors and workers, including sexual harrassment, firings without cause, and
systematic and persistant violations of OSHA regulations. Inexperienced and untrained younger workers in their labor pool were routinely assigned to skilled labor jobs, being paid minimum wage with no hope of advancement. Deserved bonuses were not paid for one excuse or another, but Allegis controlled literally every facet of Sony Technology from the top down.
Lo and behold, Sony headquarters in Japan only saw the bottom line. It must have seemed like a miracle, all that productivity even though the goods coming from Allegis controlled plants were shoddy, so for the first time in its history, it took one of these great business architects and made him the CEO in Japan.
