1. Do I
have to send anything other than the t-shirts?
No. The price of the quilt includes the materials. Terri's
T-Shirt Quilts provides the front fabric, the back fabric, thread, and the batting.
2. Can I furnish my own fabric?
Yes, contact us by e-mail and we'll give you yardage requirements based
on the number of t-shirts and quilt size.
3. Is there anything I need to do to the shirts
before I mail them?
Yes. Launder them without softening agents such as liquid or fabric
softening dryer sheets. The t-shirts don't adhere as well to the stablizer when softening agents are used.
4. What color of fabric is used?
Terri's T-shirt Quilts can pick the color that best compliments
your shirts. However, we can work with you if you have a color preference.
5. What are borders, sashings, and backings?
Borders are the strips of fabric around the perimeter of the front of the
quilt. Sashings are the strips between the blocks on the quilt front. The backing is the fabric on the back side
of the quilt.
6. How big can a graphic be for one quilt block?
Blocks are 14 inches. Any graphic larger than that will have to be cut
down.
7. What do I do with small graphics on the chest
or sleeve?
Oftentimes 4 chest or sleeve graphics can be put together to make one
block. We try to use every possible printed section of a shirt.
8. How long does it take?
Three to five weeks depending on the number of quilt
orders we have at a time. We can give you an estimated delivery time when you place your order.
9. Is my t-shirt quilt machine washable?
Yes! A quilt is as washable as your t-shirts were. Wash in cold
water and tumble dry with low heat. If you have special shirts such as vintage or autographed by celebrities, simply
wash in cold water on the delicate cycle and hang dry.
10. What extra features can be added to a t-shirt
quilt?
Embroidered Quilt Plate - $10 (See gallery for picture)
Hanging Sleeve for Wall Hanging - $10
11. How many shirts make a good size t-shirt quilt?
There are a couple of factors that determine the number of shirts needed.
We can use one shirt for two blocks if it has a decent size graphic on the front and the back. We can make one
block out of 4 chest size or sleeve graphics. But generally speaking, here is an estimate:
9-12 Wall Hanging
12-16 TV or Stadium Quilt
20-24 Twin Size
25-30 Full Size
36-40 Queen Size
42-46 King Size
12. Can I use a sweatshirt graphic for a quilt
block?
Yes, We can use your sweatshirts, as well.
13. Can I arrange the shirts?
You can arrange the shirts by making a chart, pinning or masking tape numbers
to your shirts. You can also pick a few shirts for special positioning, such as: "place my 2005 District Championship
in the center block." Most folks leave the layout to us, but you can give us as many hints as you like.
14. Are the quilts "quilted"?
The front of the quilt is constructed with double seams for extra strength.
The backing, batting, and quilt front are also machine stitched together. The three layers are then "hand tied" at the
corners of each shirt with 6-strand embroidery thread to maintain the integrity of the shirts.
