BASIC MOVEMENT
  1. Breathe in while raising your hands, twisting them palm up, and one leg.
  2. Breathe out while lowering your hands, twisting them palm down, and that leg.
VARIATIONS IN THE 8 DIRECTIONS

Assume you are facing north.

North/South

North: Move your limbs in a forward circle going down, forward, up and back.
South: Move your limbs in a backward circle going down, back, up and forward.

East/West

West: Move your limbs in a circle facing you going left, down, right, and up.
East: Move your limbs in a circle facing you going right, down, left and up.

Diagonal

Northeast
Move your limbs in a horizontal circle going forward, right, back, and left.
Southeast
Move your limbs in a horizontal circle going back, right, forward, and left.
Southwest
Move your limbs in a horizontal circle going back, left, forward, and right.
Northwest
Move your limbs in a horizontal circle going foward, left, back, and right.

VARYING THE MOVEMENT

Folding/Unfolding
Fold-in by bending the knee or elbow for a elbow or knee strike. Fold-out by unbending the knee or elbow for a hand or foot strike.

Ward Off
Increase or decrease the distance between the circle and your torso.

Expand/Contract
Expand or Contract the circle you make in all three dimensions.

Crossing
Cross the path of two or all three limbs.

Height
You can stand high, low, or in between. You can also practice from a sitting posture in a chair or on the ground. Finally you can pratice lying face up or face down.

Stomping
You can stomp the floor vigorously when moving your foot.

Jumping
You can jump instead of stepping.

Spinning
You can spin clockwise or counter-clockwise like a dervish.


Tani-Rahl Neijia Quan

Tani-Rahl Neijis Quan has one main goal and five corollary goals. These goals combine with the movements of Tani-Rahl Neijia Qigong to create martial applications.

Main Goal: Advantage

This means gain the advantage over your opponent. This includes proper defense, offense, and weaking him; using weapons, terrain, and psychology; using rhythmn and timing, etc.

Defense

Blend: Blend with your opponents energy. Example principles include dodging, cutting-in, and parrying.
Resist: Resist your opponent's energy. Example principles include blocking, iron shirt, and rooting.

Weaken

Topple: This means unbalancing one's opponent. by leading, sweeping, or throwing,
Control: This means controlling one's opponent by sticking to his movements, grabbing his body, or locking his joints.

Offense

Shock: This means shocking your opponent with varying degrees of force. Example principles include kiai, striking, pushing and choking.
