The purpose of the Worcester Historical Museum Education Advisory Council is to advance the museum
as an educational institution, build partnerships with Worcester-area schools and organizations, and create innovative learning
experiences for local students, community members, and museum visitors.

Council Subcommittees
Interpretation & Interactives—advises Programs
staff on exhibit approaches, educational opportunities, and interactive components for on-site exhibitions; suggests ways
to enhance exhibit program from point of view of education and interpretation.
Museum
Programs—assists Program staff with a variety of tasks related
to the creation and execution of successful onsite public and family programs; these include all sorts of lecture series,
classes (not just history), demonstrations, talks, community events, theater programs, historical re-enactment, tours, and
festival programs in the museum or on its grounds.
Curriculum & Teacher Resources—help Programs
staff develop, prototype, administer, and assess innovative education curriculum,
school programs and tours, and teacher professional development opportunities. There
are many opportunities for this committee to work with Outreach & Internet Programs, especially in collaborative education
work.
Outreach & Internet Programs—help
Programs staff identify and develop outreach and internet programs for a
variety of audiences in the Worcester area. This committee will help identify
and build fertile collaborations among WHM, other Worcester
museums, area colleges, Worcester Public Library, and town historical societies and libraries with an eye toward crafting
rewarding and educational experiences on the web.
