To the Editor:
Every once in a while
you come across something that just blows your mind. Why does Bucks County have to replace its voting
machines that certainly seem to serve us well? At a cost to taxpayers of millions of dollars, no less.
All because of what happened in Florida
in 2000? Give me a break. That wasn't faulty equipment or system. It was manmade trickery, of various kinds, done to affect
the election. No lie. I've talked to several residents of Florida who experienced
it.
So the federal government, in all its wisdom, comes up with this stupid, costly solution.
Absurd.
The electronic machines that are being considered are not as secure as our present machines.
Having been involved in local politics for about 15 years, I've witnessed some questionable campaign behavior (dirty tricks).
I have no doubt that count tampering will eventually happen if it were made easier.
No thanks. I'd rather not vote for the first time in my life if I cannot be sure the
vote totals are true and accurate. Why bother?
