Doylestown - The Coalition for Voting Integrity will hold a press conference immediately following the Board of Elections meeting today at the Doylestown Courthouse. Weather permitting, the conference will be held on the courthouse steps. Details pending.

CVI recognizes the importance of this meeting, perhaps the final one (of only two all year) before Election Day. Despite the fact that the meeting will be held in a small room with little notice and gated access, members of CVI and other concerned citizens will be there to ask the following questions among others:

* Why are we getting used machines?

* Will paper ballots be provided for all voters who want them? If not, why not?

* The Danaher machines are notoriously prone to fail. What back up plan is in place?

* The Danaher machines cannot be independently recounted. What back up plan is in place to provide a recount of the election results?

* Why are the Danaher machines rated by the Brennan Center for Justice as the worst for lost votes? What is going to be done about that serious problem?

* Who is Electec, the private company that is going to be handling our elections and supplying and maintaining our voting machines?

* Why did New Mexico throw out their Danaher machines?

* Are we voting on the machines New Mexico outlawed and threw out?

The CVI press conference will address the Board of Elections' answers to all of those questions and more. These questions cannot go unanswered. The citizens of Bucks County deserve better.

The Coalition for Voting Integrity has worked tirelessly for more than a year under the guiding principle that the vote belongs to the American people and that citizens should be able to cast their votes in the most secure and accountable way possible.
