These are not the wheels we plan to us
But they are close to the right size.
I will try and get more pictures of the right wing under construction.
the construction is basicly tradishanel built up wing every thing is just big. The main spars are 1/2x1/2
aspen Boxed with 1/8 lite-ply.
Looking down the wing from the Root end.
It has a cord of right at 26" and with out the tip it is about 1/4 inch shy of 8' long
Looking down the wing from the tip end.
The wing panel atache using 7/8 alum. tubes.
These will also set the wing incadents. the flying wires and king post will be functionel.
Here is the left wing right now it waighs 5 1/4 LB
Thats my Dad on left and Paul on the right.
The bench we built to build the wing Panels on.
we did not have a 8 foot bench out at pauls so we built one the side rails are alumanume.
The finished bench
Paul cuting out the Float sides
There right at 7 feet Long
The sides are made from a type of door skin.
The botom of the float will be 1/8 lite-ply and the top wile be 1/8 Balsa.
The floats are for a 40 size airplane.
Making the bend in the front was fun :)
On wood this size I really like using cams.
I plan to fill the Notches with Cabosil.
After that I plan to glue a peice of 1/8 ply along the inside of the longeron.
Matt with the fuse sides
They are right at 8' long
The frame work of the door proped open.
I am using Cams to hold every thing in place.
The Longerons are 1/2x1/2 Aspen in hind sight I think 3/8x3/8 would have worked.
Starting to build the fuse jig and the first fuse.
From the water line to the top of the rudder is right at 50 inch and the floats will be 84 inch long .
