The Smith College School for Social Work is an outstanding program which operates in a unique manner. MSW students attend
graduate classes full time for 3 summers on the Smith campus in Northampton, MA. From September to June they have 2 years
of full time internship placements distributed throughout the entire United States. During their internships their placements
and field assignments are monitored by their Faculty Field Advisor.
Each year since 1998 I have been the Faculty Field Advisor/Adjunct Assistant Professor for a half dozen MSW students placed
in the Los Angeles area. My students have interned at UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute, Childrens Hospital, St. John's Child
and Family Developement Center, Venice Family Clinic, The Help Group, Kaiser Watts Child Learning Center, Didi Hirsch Community
Mental Health Center and Kaiser Walnut Creek.
