Bear Creek Upsets New Jersey in Finale
Bear Creek upsets New Jersey on the road 17-10. NJ was hurt by a 77 yard fumble return for a TD
and a 37 yard missed fg by Vinatierri. The game was close the whole way but Kitna was able to hit enough long passes to secure
the win for Bear Creek.
On a positive note....New Jersey set a new single season record for points given up with 147 pts by passing
Lenox Hills record of 150 pts.
Manning Brothers combine for 6 TD's 4 Interceptions
Eli had the better numbers back in week 3 when they first squared off. This time: Peyton is 14
of 27 for 200 yards, 4 TDs, and 2 picks, while Eli finishes with 22 of 38, 205, 2 TDs, 2 int.
Payton's Cougars leaped
out to a 17-0 lead after 1 quarter. Eli's Predators fought back to go in front at halftime 20-17. In
the entire 2nd half Eli was shut out while Payton threw 2 more TD strikes.
Coalmen Rally to Finish with League's Best Record
With nothing on the line except pride, Frostburg jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first 20 minutes of the
game. That was more points than Lackawanna County had surrendered in their previous 5 games combined (18). Steven
Jackson (27 carries 126 yds, 9 receptions, 120 yds) and Drew Brees (27-46-303-0-3TD) then went to work. Finally, with
justy 1 second left on the clock, Brees hooked up with Santana Moss from 20 yards away to tie the score and send it into OT.
The Retrievers got the ball first in OT but a holding call on first down led to a quick 3-and-out. The Coalmen
then marched to the winning score with little trouble.
Frostburg will play Tennessee in the Wild Card Round next week. A win would set up a rematch the following
week in Lackawanna.

Payton Manning Thrills Cougars Fans Again
For the third time this season, and the second game in a row, Peyton Manning led Cincinnati to two
fourth quarter touchdowns on consecutiive possessions to come from behind to win. The winning touchdown pass in
the last two games came with 5 and 4 seconds remaining in victories over BB and Mississippi, respectively.
In
this game, trailing 20-10, the first drive in the comeback win was all Brian Westbrook. He rushed 6 times for 28 yards and
caught two short passes from Manning, one that he turned into a 53-yard gain and another for a one-yard touchdown on third
and one.
After forcing a Mississippi three-and-out, and with Mississippi in a dime defense, Westbrook carried on 7
of 8 consecutive plays in the middle of the drive, gaining 47 yards to set up Laveranues Coles catch and run down to the Mississippi
two with 17 seconds remaining. After an incomplete, Manning hit Coles again for the TD and a with just four seconds remaining
on the clock.
But the biggest possession, according to Peyton Manning after the game, was the Cougars possession
immediately before those final two touchdown drives. "We had only one score thriu the first 40 minutes, and they were beating
us with a controlled short passing attack. We needed to get something going." Three times in the possession, facing
a third an long, Manning converted to move the ball from the Cougars 34 to the Mississippi 19, setting up a
John Carney field goal to cut the lead to 17-10 early in the fourth quarter.
Although the Fighting Okra answered
with a field goal of their own on their next possession to up the lead to 20-10, primarily on a great 46-yard run by
Cadillac Williams, the Cougars offense had found their rhythm and would not be stopped on their final two possessions.
(Thanks Hank!)
Notables:
Rural Hall was dismantled by Marietta, opening the door for the Maulers to win the division and get a 1st
round bye in the playoffs. The 10th AD had been in the drivers seat thanks to a previous win over Marietts back in week 2.
Who's Hot and Who's Not?
After their 11-0 start, BB has lost 3 of their last 4.
Canton was 6-4 but has now dropped 5 straight and will miss the playoffs for the first time.
Florida has won 8 of 9 after a 3-3 start to take control of the AFC Central. Ditto for Frostburg.

*Coach Burns Boils Over After Loss to Hitmen, Finger Pointing Begins in Canton
Canton. The Bulldogs held a very suprising 14-13 halftime lead thanks to a blocked punt and a big
play by Champ Bailey. The 2nd half was a different story. The Hitman brought in Damon Huard in the 2nd half and steamrolled
the hapless Bullpuppies. (The loss pretty much eliminated Canton from contention for the final playoff spot.)
After
the game Coach Burns lambasted a reporter at the team's press conference when asked about the dominance of Lenox Hill. "The
Hitman are who we thought they were. That is why we took the damn field! If you want to crown them then crown them! But they
are who we thought they were and we let them off the hook!"
Rumors are swirling that there is a power struggle within
the Bulldog organization. Coach Burns is unhappy with GM Burns's decision not to resign Osi Umenyiora and the drafting of
players with character issues such as Odell Thurman and Chris Henry. GM Burns believes Coach Burns's offense is too conservative
and wants changes made on the Bulldogs's offensive staff.
The good news for the Bulldogs is they finish the season
with St. Croix and Hudson County. Canton is 14-0 against these 2 teams over the last 4 seasons. The Bulldogs need to win both
games to avoid their 1st losing season in team history. The bad news for the Bulldogs is they absolutely stink in every facet
of the game.
Notables:
A well controlled last drive by Cincinnati culminated by a Manning to Coles pass with 9 seconds left pulls
out the win over BB.
Speculation is swirling in St. Croix Falls that Tiki Barber will be hanging up his cleats at season's end. He headlined
the Saints win this week by rushing for 131 yards and 3 TD's.
Tony Romo throws 4 TD passes as Rural Hall avenges its opening day loss to Austin.
BB led by 10 halfway through the 4th quarter, but Payton Manning threw a pair of TD passes to Laveraneus Coles in the
final seven minutes to give Cinci the win.

Notables:
Unbeaten BB led perenial powerhouse Lenox Hill at the half 16-14. The defending champs then served
notice that they would not be unseated quite so easily this year. Four plays into the 3rd quarter Lofa Tatupu scooped
up a Kevin Jones fumble and ran it 32 yards for a score to put Lenox on top. The next time the Hitmen had the ball they
drove 90 yards for a TD in the form of a 25 yard Damon Huard to Reggie Wayne pass. They topped that on their
next possession, after stopping the Bombers on 4th and goal from the 2, marching 98 yards before Joseph Addai ran
it in from the 6.
Jake Delhomme completed his first 18 passes and finished the day 20 of 21 for 257 yards and 2 TD's, but
it was not enough for Buffalo who lost their 11th game.
Portland snapped a 4 game loss streak with their home win over Canton.
Harlow keeps its playoff hopes alive with a mini upset at Tennessee, breaking a 14-all tie with 16 unanswered
points in the final quarter.
Terrence Wilkins' 71 yard punt return for a TD helped Robbinsville come back from a 10-0 halftime deficit
and snap the Riot's 5 game loss streak.
Tony Romo (18 - 21- 283 yds -1 int -5 TD's) was unconscious for Rural Hall this week.

Notables:
Two games this week ended with identical scores and involved impressive comebacks. Marc Bulger (25-36-233-1-3td)
led Hudson County to a 31-24 win over Winnemucca after trailing 24-7 midway through the 3rd quarter. Tampa
Bay also won 31-24 after trailing Portland by 24-0 in the 3rd quarter.
Mark Brunell, the league's 3rd ranked passer (111.6 rating), is knocked out of the game early but Jason
Campbell (20-30-305-0-3td) fills in nicely as Tennessee downs Marietta. Brunell is likely done for the rest of the regular
season.
Florida snaps Cincinnati's 6 game win streak. The Cougars averaged 35 points per game during that span but
were held to 16 by the Sun.
Carson Palmer (10-28-115-0-0) has one of the most frustrating days of his young career against
Rural Hall's 3rd ranked pass defense.
The game doesn't appear to keep track of team defense records, but BB may have challenged one by limiting
Nevada to 102 yards in total offense.
Fog City rolls up 444 yards in offense but 2 fumbles and 2 interceptions by rookie Vince Young
hurt in their loss to Mississippi.
With winds gusting to 30 mph in New Jersey, the Jawbreakers and Bulldogs square off in an old fashioned
3 yards and cloud of dust scrum, combining to run the ball on 87 plays.

Matchups of the Week:
Marietta (6-3) at Harlow (5-4) [Line: Maulers by 2] - Harlow is in a bit of disarray and needs a good showing
against a quality opponent. Result: Maulers 17-13. Seneca Wallace puts in a full day at the office, throwing for 251
yards and a pair of TD's despite being sacked 8 times to lead Marietta.
Robbinsville (3-6) at BB (9-0) [Line: Bombers by 12] - Just a hunch but this could be an upset special.
BB has been having it too easy lately while Robbinsville, despite their record, is explosive and dangerous. Result:
Bombers 20-19.
A battle all the way. Robbinsville's John Kasay misses a 41 yard field goal with 1:31
to go and BB holds on for the win. (Thanks Ron)
Notables:
A badly depleted Fighting Okra squad battles back from a 13-3 deficit to take a 3 point lead with 4 minutes left. Injuries
on defense had forced Mississippi to use linbackers in coverage on pass defense packages, yet still Carson Palmer was continually
frustrated and unable to exploit the situation. The Retrievers barely pulled it out with a final drive.
St Croix pulls off the upset special of the week, knocking off New Jersey.

hurt by 11 penalties.
Harlow (5-3) at BB (8-0) - Harlow is on a roll, having won 4 in a row. BB continues to carry that big
undefeated target on its back. Result: Bombers 38-7. Harlow gains 105 yards on 37 offensive plays, only 12 of them
passes?
Notables:
Jason Hanson booted a game-ending field goal to cap a 4th-quarter rally, as the Coalmen downed the No Names,
27-24. Steven Jackson was stifled on the ground, gaining 77 yards on 27 carries, but chipped in
with 102 receiving yards on 8 catches, as Lackawanna County rolled up a season-high of 354 passing yards. Marc
Bulger threw for 256 yards, Fred Taylor rushed for 90 yards, and Terrell Owens caught 5 passes for 108 yards, to pace Hudson
County. (Thanks Mark)
Jake Delhomme (Buf) and Mark Brunell (Ten) each throw 5 TD passes in Tennessee's overtime win.

Matchups of the Week:
Marietta (5-2) at BB (7-0) - Bombers 31-23: Jeff Garcia throws for 310 yards and 4 touchdowns
as BB stays unbeaten. After back-to-back shutouts Marietta has dropped two straight.
Rural Hall (5-2) at Lenox Hill (6-1) - 10th AD 18-3. Frank Gore runs for 175 yards as Rural Hall stuns
the Hitmen on the road. The two losses is the most ever for Andrew's Lenox Hill squad in the four years of the UFE.
Notables:
Andrew Walter led Canton to three 2nd half scoring drives in relief of an injured Donovan McNabb. Mike Patterson
led the Bulldog defense with 3 sacks. Coach Frank Aluzzi did a great job despite the fact his team had only one healthy cornerback.
The prognosis is not good for Donovan McNabb's knee. Dr. James Andrews says McNabb will miss the next 5-6 weeks. Canton's
playoff hopes now ride on the shoulders of Andrew Walter. Walter has been outstanding in his limited oppurtunities thus far
completing 64% of his passes, 4 TD's, 0 interceptions, and a 122.8 QB Rating. (Thanks Kevin)
Jon Kitna passes for 416 yards and 5 TD's for Salem in their win over Robbinsville.
For the second week in a row Florida wins in the closing seconds, this time thanks to a 34 yard Matt Stover
field goal with 3 seconds left on the clock.

Matchups of the Week:
Lenox Hill (5-1) at Robbinsville (3-3) - Rematch of UFE Bowl I as the
Brisman
boys battle for bragging rights at the Thanksgiving day table. Result: Hitmen
23-16. Lenox got a game-tying field goal with two and a half minutes left, then, after holding the Riot to 3-and-out,
Damon Huard and Antonio Gates connect on a 61 yard pass play with a minute left to dash Robbinsville's upset hopes.
New Jersey (5-1) at Marietta (5-1) - Jawbreakers face a tough rebound game
after their disappointing overtime loss to BB last week. Line: Maulers by 1.
Result: Jawbreakers 35-8. D'Angelo Hall picks off a Kyle Boller pass on the first play from scrimmage and takes
it 45 yards for a TD and set the tone for the game. NewJersey was up 28-3 at the half. Mike Vick seems to be enjoying his
super-sub role in the uniquely effective New Jersey offensive scheme. He ran for 2 scores and threw for another, and has now
thrown 6 TD passes in just 35 attempts for the season.
Notables:
BB rolls to its 7th straight win but the news was not all rosy as after the game starting safety and
defensive leader Mike Brown was hurt under mysterious circumstances and will likely be gone for the rest of the regular season.
Florida wins on a 77 yard screen pass and run from Alex Smith to Ladanian Tomlinson with 1 second left
to play. Ouch!
Lackawanna County bounced back from their thrashing at Lenox Hill to record a 30-3 triumph over Mississippi
on the road. Steven Jackson ran for 94 yards snd one score, and Drew Brees found Santana Moss for a pair of scoring
strikes to pace the offense. The story of the night, however, was the Coalmen defense, which limited the Fighting Okra
to 7 first downs and 117 yards of offense, while recording 7 sacks on the night. (Thanks Mark)
4 Rural Hall int's sink the Nevada squad. Travis Henry made a valiant effort rushing for 94 hard
earned yards. RH O wasn't hitting on all 8 cylinders but Gore kept the Wolfpack D honest and Romo was tolerable.

Matchups of the Week:
There are some great games on tap this week, headlined by what could be two possible UFE Bowl IV previews. Lenox
Hill and Lackawanna features a matchup of the top two scoring teams in the league right now. New
Jersey and BB is a matchup of the top two teams in fewest points allowed. One other game should not
be overlooked. Rural Hall pits their top ranked offense in terms of efficiency (6.4 yards per play) against
Tennessee's top ranked defense (4.0 yards per play).
Notables:
UFE Bowl IV Preview #1: Carlos Dansby had 4 sacks and Lackawanna turned the ball over 3 times as Lenox
Hill knocks the Coalmen from the unbeaten ranks.
UFE Bowl IV Preview #2: Undefeateds New Jersey and BB need all of regualtion and an extra twelve and
a half minutes of overtime to decide their contest and the Bombers walk away as the only undefeated team left in the
UFE. (Note: Coaches from all 4 of these teams had little to say afterwards. Post season rematch anyone?)
Payton Manning (32-46-447-0-4td) opens up a can on the Outlaws, as Cinci wins big.
Steve McNair threw for 357 yards and 1 score to lead the Fighting Okra past the Wizards 23-9. The
defense for Mississippi picked off 3 Jon Kitna passes and the Salem offense was one-dimensional as Shaun Alexander was still
injured. The Okra improved to 2-4 as they await the arrival of their new players for next week's showdown with Lackawanna
County. (Thanks Frank)
Chad Pennington (29-32-254-0-3td) was feeling no pain as Harlow dominated Portland.
Buffalo goes down despite nearly 44 minutes of possession. Shortly thereafter the front office embarks
on a rebuilding project of nuclear proportions.

Notables:
Salem at Tennessee. Both teams at 3-1 and looking like playoff contenders. Jon Kitna vs. Mark Brunell. Needless
to say, it is the ... Matchup of the Week. Result: The Copperheads ran up a 27 point lead while keeping the
Wizards off the scoreboard until late in the third quarter. 7 sacks allowed and a fumbled kick return that led to a quick
Tenn. score contributed to Salem's disappointing day.
Mike Vick runs for 80 yards and connects with Chad Johnson on a couple killer long passes as New Jersey squashes
Frostburg and remains undefeated.
Canton wins despite Frank Gore eating up nearly 43 minutes of possession time with 179 yards rushing. Tony
Romo had as many sacks as he did completions as the Bulldog defense played a gritty game despite the news that GM Kevin Burns
traded away 2 key starters on the defense this week as part of a rebuilding plan. (submitted by Kevin)
Five turnovers and 157 yards in offense made Mississippi's day in Marietta forgetable.
After scoring first for the only time in 5 match ups with the Hitmen, Buffalo finds themselves down 24-7
after sixteen minutes of play, a feat Lennox accomplished with 65 yards of total offense courtesy of several big plays, starting
with a 23 yd completion on a short hitch vs deep pass zone on their initial FG drive. Lenox also had two fumble
returns for TD's plus another TD set up by a 79 yd Devin Hester punt return from the 3 yard line (on a sideline punt from
inside Lennox territory). A lone bright spot for Buffalo (aside from the realization before it's too late that it's time to
start over) was a 23 play 18:00 TD drive that would have made Woody Hayes teary eyed with pride. (submitted by Bill)
Predators forced 5 turnovers in the 1st qtr and had a 24-0 lead at the end of the qtr, but that was
it as Austin comes back to win the game 33-27. All Dave Switzler had to say at the post-game interview was, "damn". (submitted

Payton Manning (24-32-400-0-4) leads Cinci back from a 24-13 haltime deficit. Afterwards, the Rollers pack
up a fleet of moving vans and quietly slip out of Las Vegas. Rumor has it they have relocated to Hudson County.
Florida and Lackawanna played an exciting game that featured a matchup of star running backs Ladanian Tomlinson
and Steven Jackson. Florida took a 3 point lead with 8 minutes left and then tried to seal it with a surprise onside kick.
The Coalmen recovered however and 5 plays later had tied the score. When Florida was unable to sustain a drive on their next
possession, Lackawanna used up most of the final four and a half minutes going from their own 9 to the game-winning
field goal.

Notables:
With a second straight lopsided loss, Buffalo matches its franchise record for losses in a season
with 3. The Tillman Division champs 3 years running will be happy to have a healthy Jake Delhomme back at the helm next week.
Three teams broke through for their first wins of the season. St. Croix Falls defense
allowed just 247 total yards in a mild upset of Portland. Mississippi rookie Matt Leinart came
off the bench to relieve Steve McNair and threw 4 TD passes to lead the Fighting Okra to a home win over Vegas. Afterwards
Coach Frank announced that Leinart had earned the starting job "for now." Finally, in the biggest shocker of the week,
Winnemucca gets their first win by knocking off previously undefeated Tennessee. Brett Favre led the Outlaws
on a 63 yard drive in the final 4 minutes before Ryan Lindell kicked the game-winning field goal in the game's final play.
Game of the Week: Marietta took at 17-13 lead over Lenox Hill late in the 3rd quarter on
a 77 yard Tim Rattay to Tory Holt pass. The Hitmen closed to within one on a 50 yard Josh Brown field goal but Brown missed
from 45 yards in the closing seconds to send the Mauler faithful home happy. Lenox was hurt by four untimely penalties
in the final quarter. Amazingly, it was just the third regular season loss in franchise history for Lenox Hill.
Three teams remain undefeated. BB racks up 32 first downs in routing Austin. Steven
Jackson rumbles in for three scores and Drew Brees tosses three TD passes as Lackawanna downs the Sea
Dogs, 45-10. New Jersey stops LT and the Florida Sun on the road. This
was closer than the score indicated as Florida was down by 6 with 2 minutes left before DeAngelo Hall picked off the ball
and ran it back 27 yards for a TD with 1:53 left in the game. Early on it looked like New Jersey would pull away. Up 10-3
late in the 2nd quarter JP Losman through a 16 yard completion to Bryant Johnson but Johnson fumbled the ball away on the
1. On the next play, LT runs into a 5-3 stacked D calling run stuff!!! LT busts it loose for 56 yards. Florida drives and
kicks a fg to go into the half down 10-6. (Submitted by Scott)
The Rural Hall-Cincinnati game shoulda come with a joystick.... Big plays on O all the way around,
neither D making more than the occasional stop. Both teams combined for 956 yards in offense. Payton Manning threw 3
td's and Tony Romo 5 (with 2 int's). Gore (179 yds) and Westbrook (157 yds) ran wild to add to the offensive fiasco.
Both teams were hit by big injuries. (Submitted by Kurt)

Notables:
Las Vegas sacks Donavan McNabb 9 times en route to a mild upset over the Bulldogs. DeMarcus Ware and Trent
Cole had 3 sacks apiece.
A 43 yard Josh Brown field goal with 7 seconds left allows Lenox Hill to sneak past heavy underdog St. Croix
Falls 24-21.
A couple key fourth down stops and 3 Kerry Collins interceptions helped Rural Hall to a 31-6 win over Buffalo
in the Matchup of the Week. The first 4th down stand set the tone of the game when the Bills had conducted a 12-plus
minute drive to the Hall 1 yard line on their opening possession. Collins got the start for the Bills because regular QB
Jake Delhomme is banged up.
Cincinnati vs. Portland featured bothers Payton and Eli Manning facing each other. Eli was the clear winner
of this round, passing for 234 yards and 3 TD's. Payton found the end zone only once and was intercepted 3 times.
Ladanian Tomlinson receives Player of Week honors for his 31 carry 251 rushing yard performance for Florida
in their upset win over Fog City.

Matchup of the Week:
Tennessee (1-0) at Fog City (1-0)
Tennessee 48-0
The Sea Dogs defense held Nevada to 57 yards and 2 first downs on the ground in their opener. They
will be tested this week by Larry Johnson and the Copperheads (see Week One Notables, below). The Dogs feature rookie Vince
Young at QB. . . . Result: Fog City was a little anxious on the big stage as they turned the ball over 7 times.
Notable Results:
Lenox Hill's Devin Hester returned the opening kickoff for a TD and later returned a punt for another. Despite
the appearance of the final score, the Hitmen finished with just 9 first downs and 203 yards in offense. Las Vegas' kick
returners Lito Sheppard and Kerry Rhodes had to have set some kind of record when each of them fumbled 3 times.
Frank Gore rushed for 178 yards as Rural Hall served notice on Marietta that they will be a contender in
the Tillman Division this season. Marietta and Buffalo have controlled the top of that division in each of the 3 seasons
of the UFE.
Buffalo's starting QB Jake Delhomme was injured and will miss the next two games.
BB gets the team defense award of the week, holding Portland to just 142 total yards of offense.
Nevada was 19 yards away from a game-tying score early in the fourth quarter when Erik Coleman intercepted
a Derek Anderson pass. Florida proceeded to use up ten minutes in driving 93 yards before Ladanian Tomlinson scored his third
TD of the game to pretty much put the game away.
Brett Favre fueled retirement speculation by throwing 4 interceptions in Winnemucca's loss to Salem.

Canton (11-5) at Lenox Hill (15-1)
Lenox 37-8
In each of the initial three seasons of the UFE Lenox Hill and Canton have finished one-two in the Singletary
Division while Buffalo and Marietta have finished one-two in the Tillman Division (the Buffalo franchise was in Seattle for
the 2004 season). We get an early read on whether history will continue in the 2007 season.
Notable Results
Larry Johnson is obviously in mid-season shape as Tennessee pounded him 39 times against the Florida defense
for 179 yards in their 28-19 win.
John Kitna had a career day for Salem throwing for 445 yards on 27 for 35 passing as the Wizards routed
Harlow.
Frostburg was down by 2 with 21 seconds left but appeared poised to escape with a win after driving to the
Tampa Bay 22. But Greg Wesley intercepted Carson Palmer and the Black Sheep pulled off the road upset. Frostburg's
last 3 possessions all ended by turnovers.
