WTF?!?
South Dakota banned abortions.
Senator Bill Napoli finds a way to disgust us all in an interview conducted by Fred De Sam Lazaro who asked the Senator
to describe a scenario in which abortion would be appropriate...
Good one, Bill. Were you jacking off when you came up with that scenario?
The ladies at smartbitchescrappynovels.com had this to say about Bill Napoli:
napoli (not to be confused with the proper noun, which indicates the Italian city) Function: verb Inflected Form(s):
napolied Pronunciation: nA’poli
1. To brutalize and rape, sodomize as bad as you can possibly make it, a young, religious virgin woman who was saving herself
for marriage. 2. To hella rape somebody.
Etymology: From State Senator Bill Napoli’s (R-SD) words on an acceptable description of rape that would merit an exemption
from South Dakota’s abortion ban.
*sigh*

Violated
I hate, hate, hate viruses! We just got rid of a nasty trojan that reports personal information. It was determined to
stay on the computer because it left a registry key that would reload it every time you turned on the computer. Ugh. Four
hours of battle and Danny won. :)
Our car has been wonky for the last couple of days. It even stalled out for the very first time in it's life! Seems to
be the fuel system, so we are working on that. Great thing is we have money set aside for car repairs (Thank you, Dave Ramsey)
so unless it costs an arm and a leg (which it won't) we will be good to go.
Mom's got some kind of mystery surgery to undergo tomorrow. I have no earthly idea what it is for....so I will be calling
all day to find out the details. Did I mention our family can be a bit closed-mouth at times? I'm sure it's nothing major
or we would have gotten all the details. Maybe it's an ingrown toenail...
I'm still horribly excited about Tonya coming for a visit...it's in a week. Squee!

Financial Peace
Anyone who has been reading my blog knows
that the Arrogant Sage household follows Dave Ramsey’s plan of Financial Peace. (Which he now calls the Total Money Makeover, btw.)
We have managed to pay off three smaller
student loans, a car, and all our credit card debt. We were able to build up our first $1,000 emergency fund within 2 months
of deciding to follow the plan.
We have since used up that emergency fund
and created it again many times over. It has saved our hides each and every time. In fact, the last time we used it up was
during our move across the state. I recently paid it back with our tax refund. I will deviate from Dave’s plan just a smidge
here, because our first step after putting away the emergency 1k, you are supposed to start hitting your smallest debt again.
But I plan on putting away 3k this time.
So now we have hit the point of this
post. I want to record my financial goals. Or at least report on them…hey, it’s my blog, I can do what I want with it. J At the end of this month, I should have $1858 put away. If my projections are correct and my job goes
into the summer time we should have our 3k at the beginning of May. Then our next goal will be to pay down the only debt we
have left…two student loans. The smallest sits at $10644 and the largest is at $31458. Considering what we have already paid
down, this shouldn’t take too long. ;)

Tales of work and clumsiness
Wanna see what I do? Well, not all of it, but some...
Here are the germination boxes I have to make up. Each contains vermiculite, a package of seeds from various sources, water, and Captan.
After the seeds germinate, I have to plant them into these large flats:
Then I put them into the greenhouse and water like crazy. Later we will plant these outside and lots of different things
can be done with them.
On to clumsiness. Today, I had the great pleasure of slipping on my stairs and falling down most of them.
I twisted my ankle and now have a bruise on my arm (which stings like a motherfucker). Oh joy. Don't worry, I'm perfectly
okay.

The Arrogant Sage talks Current Events
What the fuck?? It was a prank gone out of control?? Really? That's the excuse? I could possibly see the first church
as a prank gone wrong. Maybe they set a bag of shit on fire and didn't watch to see if someone stamped it out...but what "prank"
takes them to 8 other churches? Dipshits.
Did anyone else catch this show on FX? It was co-created by Ice Cube. It was fabulous...and Ice Cube's song "Race Card"
is great.
The premise behind the show is 2 families come together under one roof: one white, one black. They not only have to live
with each other, but they have to trade races. That's right. They got into make-up everyday and became the other race.
Bruno, Carmen, and Rose are the white family. Brian, Renee, and Nick are the black family.
Bruno seems to have gone into this show thinking he could teach black people how to "get over" racism. He loved saying
the n-word and felt sure that someone was going to come up to him saying it. Of course he would just show that ignorant person
by being calm, cool, and not responding in an angry way. He believes that would be the end of racism.
Brian, in his quest to prove to Bruno that racism does exist, went overboard and saw racism in every little reaction.
He failed to point out that racism isn't always experienced on a daily basis. Not only that, but some people can go a VERY
long time with no incident. Although, it has now occurred to me that the house they went to is in Ca while Brian's family
came from GA. (two different worlds) Anyway, no excuses for him. Time to wipe the chip off the shoulder.
Carmen. I'm afraid for her. She's very naive for a grown woman. Her manner calls for a more delicate hand and I don't
know if she will find that in the house.
Renee. We really didn't get a good look into who Renee is. Except that she has a very strong personality.
Rose was the gem of the house. She plunged herself into a slam poetry class all the while scared she was out of her league.
Nick was very quiet. He didn't really seem into the "becoming white", but then he said something I had to think about.
He said, "I don't see the point of this racism stuff. I'm not the one with the problem."
That says a lot to me.
I'm a black woman who hasn't had to shoulder the racism my mother/father/grandmothers/grandfathers had to shoulder.
I have experienced blatant racism and covert racism in my lifetime. Nick probably hasn't had to deal with the things
I have. And that just means that maybe Cirel won't have to deal with any of it.
My conclusion...it's a fascinating look at the vestiges of racism in America. I won't be watching it to see what they
learn, just to see what I learn.
There used to be a third item, but for the life of me I can't remember what it is....crap. I suppose I will end with
this:
Cirel asked me if I was scared of Polar bears. I said that anyone with a lick of sense should be. She said she wasn't
scared of Polar bears because she could just kill them with her Karates. You go, girl.

I'm gellin'!
My bestest friend is coming for a visit!!!!!
This all began last year when I went to Michigan for 2 weeks...or was it a week...well, let's just say it was a long
visit.
Anyway, on the way back Cirel and I got bumped from our flight because it was full to capacity. Now wait a minute...I
bought those damn tickets eons ago, how did they manage to sell my seat twice?? Doesn't matter. I chose to wait out an extra
2 hours for the next flight out and they supplied me with a travel voucher to cover my inconvience.
They refunded me the cost of the flight...now I don't know what scale they were using, but my complete round trip cost
was a whopping $388. I received a voucher for $575.40. SWEET.
The voucher has a time limit of one year to use. Danny and I came up with a million different ways to use it, but nothing
panned out. Luckily, Danny reminded me that Tonya may want to come for a visit.
Now, as I said before, my bestest friend is coming for a visit and she is bringing her 3 little girls. The coolest part
is that the voucher was enough to cover all their round trip tickets and then some. I'm so happy I could squee. In fact, I
think I will.
Squee!
Next time an airline wants to bump you...do it, it just might be worth it.
