It's not what I thought it would be. Of course, I don't really remember what I thought it would be....All I
know is I still feel like a novice most of the time.
It's so difficult to tow the line between generosity and spoiling the child. I caught myself the other day smacking my
own hand as I fought off the urge to go to McDonald's just to get Cirel one of those Shrek cups! (huge nostaglia for me. How
many of you had Star Wars glasses from McD back in the day??!)
Anyway, the rule is she cleans up her toys every night. But lately she has been putting it off until the next morning
or complaining. And I totally sympatize with her because I hated cleaning up my stuff too. In fact, I still do a horrible
job of keeping clean and I am over 30! Nonetheless, I have to stick to the rules we created. I suggested to her that maybe
she has too much stuff if she can't see fit to keep it neat. (that doesn't go over well) Last night, I let her stop cleaning.
It was a lost cause, but today I put on my Momma hat (confirmed with Dad of course) and I went to Wally World to buy totes.
You know what's coming....
Say hello to Cirel's stuff...it no longer resides in her room:
I guess she doesn't really have too much if I can fit it into 2 tubs and two drawers (that top drawer is empty). Now
I have created more work for myself and I hate having to do more work, but I guess it's the right thing to do as a parent.
She will have to ask for her stuff as if she were at school and she will have to put her stuff back if she wants more stuff.
*sigh* This parenting thing is hard.
I didn't know this man when he died from gunshot wounds yesterday in Moscow, Idaho. His name is Lee Newbill
and he died in the line of duty (police officer) when a gunman decided to shoot up Moscow Saturday night.
This morning, I got a punch to the gut when I discovered that I speak to his wife on a daily basis. She is
Cirel's pre-school teacher. I vaguely remember her mentioning her husband is an officer in the neighboring town.
Anything I add will be lame. I'm sorry for your tragic loss, Becky.
And my computer. I think I spend more time at my computer than I do eating and that's saying something!
I have recently discovered a place to
watch movies and tv and I am completely addicted. No longer will I wait for a series to wind down, I will wait for some lovely person to put it
on the 'net so I can wathce it in it's entirety (is that even a word??)
You have 19 days left until my birthday. You ought to be thinking of something nice to get me. :D
Also, I got stung by a bee. Sucky bees.
