Mari Ricker
My name
is Mari Ricker.
I am fifteen years old and am a sophomore at Pacific Collegiate School. I have been riding horses
since I was six years old. I am currently riding at First Level with my horse Sydney,
and also showed at that level during last season. If I become a board member, I will be able to offer a junior’s perspective
for the chapter, as well as the perspective of someone new to CDS, having joined myself just before last season.
Kate Emmett-Wilder
I
always loved horses as a child, but didn't get to have my own horse until I was 18. I bought Brandy Truffle,
a Thoroughbred from the race-track and had a wonderful relationship
with him and a successful jumping career, until he died of colic at only 12 years old. I started dressage
training when I bought Paramour, an Oldenburg mare in 2000. We had a successful dressage show career, ranking
3rd in CDS HOY our first year showing.
I sold Paramour in 2004 and bought Latinum (Louis), a 3 year old SWB from Trilogy Farm in 2005. Louis
and I hope to qualify for Championships at second level next year. I work in high-tech sales, and have
been doing so for the last 15 years. I have ridden with Sandy Howard, Tracey Lert, Lilo Fore, and David Hunt. I have been very active in the local dressagecommunity, with
my service on the CDS Santa Cruz board, I show frequently and have volunteered at many local shows as a scribe.
Robert Kelley
I have two horses. Samba is a nine year old Westphalen and Nikko, a Swedish Warmblood.
Nikko is a rescue horse...trained through Prix St. Georges. I showed Nikko second level at Annual Championship Show this year taking Reserved Champion for USDF and CDS Freesytyle. I
am currently on the board of the Tannery Art Center, Regional Dance America and the Cultural Council of Santa Cruz County. I feel my previous board experience will lend
itself to strengthen our Santa Cruz chapter. I will work with members and the board to
introduce programs that will be of interest, as well as educational to the entire chapter.
Cyndi Marchese
I have owned and ridden horses for 40+ years. I have been teaching
for 20+. I really enjoyed serving on the board this past year and would look forward to serving again. I would love to continue
working on the newsletter, as I feel that this past year as a new editor, I am just beginning to get in a rhythm and hope
to continue improving on our past publications.

Lorri Lockyer
I got my first taste of dressage 18 years ago when I
was given a little Arabian/Quarter Horse that had been train up to First Level dressage. I started
taking dressage lessons and found it really exciting and fun. My horse would rather go on a trail
ride and run for 10 hours than go to a dressage show, so after 2 years of showing, we went into endurance.
When she passed away at 30 years of age, I really wanted to get a dressage horse that I could do
musical freestyle with and that really wanted to dance. I had always been enchanted by Friesians and found my dream horse. I had
no idea what I was in for when it came to training a Friesian for dressage. Thank goodness I found Sandy Howard and
she has the patience and knowledge to whip both of us into shape. I have been involved with showing and helping
out at horse shows for the past four years. I wanted to continue
on the board to learn more and also to bring my experience of getting the community involved in
events, like I have with Hobie Cat Catamaran racing. I have been organizing Hobie Cat races for the past
4 years. This year I took on the role of Awards Chairman for the Coastal Classic and hope to have more prizes and be more
organized for next year's show.
