Only God can give you permission to slip away Mother
I've
flown so far from the nest but like you,
there is no other!
Remember, the tulip bulbs we placed
in the dirt?
We planted them together
when I was the height of your skirt!
Ric-rac, ric-rac
on my dresses all around!
Prettier dresses no where else could be found!
Then there was that balloon dress......
It
made me feel like a queen ~
It sure turned into a mess
when it creeped under the screen!
Something smelled pretty
funny
so I jumped up and turned
Only to see my balloon
getting burned!
You even made the fireplace ledge where I sat
Mama, I still remember all of that!
Nothing could match
the way you combed my hair!
Tight, itchy braids here or a beehive there!
You always made me look so nice
People sometimes
would look at me twice!
Seven and a half years after my siblings,
I
was birthed by love's tears!
God gave me to you to stretch out your years!
So if they got jealous, a little bit, maybe:
Who
cares?
To this day, I am still your baby!
So Mama, as time passes by, please know:
My love never dies. It continues to grow!
