“The
Stone of Spirituality”
“The
Stone of Contentment”
“The
Stone of Sobriety”
Meditation with the stone brings a sense
of calmness and objectivity, the ability to see things as they are as opposed to illusions of truth. A strong connection to
the Spiritual Universe is forged, allowing the bearer to experience and acknowledge the divinity in all that is. With this
comes the ability and strength to face challenges with confidence and faith. These qualities are of great assistance to those
battling addictions or recovering from self-abuse.
In the right time, psychic abilities
are able to flourish with the connection to the Spiritual Universe provided with the use of amethyst.
MYTH:
The name amethyst is of Greek origin meaning “not to intoxicate.” According to Greek myth, the God Bacchus was
angry with the Goddess Diana. In anger (and under the influence of drink), Bacchus commanded that the next person he saw would
be devoured by tigers. As it happened, that person would be a beautiful young girl by the name of Amethyst. Upon the ensuing
attack of the tigers, Amethyst called on Diana to protect her. Diana then turned her to a hard, clear stone. As Bacchus sobered
and came to see the error of his way, he poured his favorite wine over the stone statue that Amethyst had become. The statue
absorbed the purple color of the wine forever. As legend would have it, the use of Amethyst prevents intoxication.
